Job description
The Cloud Architect will design, implement, and optimize secure cloud solutions for ONI's modernization initiatives, supporting AWS, Azure, and custom on-premises cloud environments. This role ensures compliance with DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) security standards while enabling scalable, resilient architectures for mission-critical systems., + Architect and implement hybrid cloud solutions integrating AWS, Azure, and on-prem environments.

Develop cloud migration strategies for legacy systems while maintaining security and compliance.

Design secure cloud architecture aligned with DoD RMF, DISA STIGs, and ONI directives.

Optimize cloud performance, cost, and scalability for classified workloads.

Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce identity management, encryption, and zero-trust principles.

Document architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, and operational procedures.

Provide technical guidance to engineering teams and stakeholders on cloud best practices.

Produce complete and accurate architecture diagrams and security artifacts delivered on schedule.
Requirements
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree or Bachelor's Degree may be substituted with High School Diploma with minimum 7 years relevant experience, + DoD 8140 Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) compliance required (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or equivalent).

Expertise in AWS, Azure, and hybrid cloud design.

Proficiency in cloud networking, identity management, and encryption technologies.

Strong knowledge of virtualization, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible).

Familiarity with RMF, STIGs, and DoD cloud security requirements.

7+ years in cloud architecture and engineering.

Must be detail oriented.

Ability to design secure, scalable architectures for classified environments.

Strong documentation and communication skills for technical and executive audiences.

Ability to lead technical discussions and mentor junior engineers.
Desired Qualifications:

AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Architect, or similar certifications are highly desirable.

Experience in DoD or IC environments is strongly preferred.

Familiarity with NAWCAD/NAWC WOLF engineering and operations processes and programs
Education Requirements:

Bachelor's or Master's in Cloud Technologies, Computer Science, or related field (highly preferred).

Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.

Ability to distinguish color-coded cabling and indicator lights.

Must be able to climb ladders or crawl in tight spaces for cable runs or equipment installation.
