NORC at the University of Chicago is a research institution that delivers reliable data and rigorous analysis to guide critical programmatic, business, and policy decisions.NORC's Information Technology team is seeking a motivated Cloud Engineer II with hands-on experience in both AWS and Azure to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to grow their cloud engineering career in a multi-cloud environment., * Own tagging responsibilities and policies, clean up resources and cloud configuration duties across multi-cloud environments.
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS/Azure cloud infrastructure to support growing business operations.
- Work closely with other Cloud Engineers and technical teams to deploy and configure cloud services that meet the needs of internal project teams and business partners.
- Collaborate, support, and communicate cross-functional needs to Cloud leaders to ensure scalable cloud solutions in the future.
- Implement and manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies for multi-account cloud environments.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code and build pipeline deployment practices.
- Lead cloud cost optimization and performance tuning efforts.
- Configure security policies and controls to adhere to client and government compliance requirements.
- Stay up to date with AWS and Azure services, features, and best practices to contribute innovative ideas and solutions to the team.
- Participate in training workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge in cloud engineering.
- Lead monitoring and service availability across cloud environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related equivalent years of work experience.
- At least 4 years of cloud engineering experience with direct exposure to both AWS and Azure cloud services.
- In-depth understanding of cloud platform services, architecture, and best practices for both AWS and Azure.
- Experience with Python scripting, build automation, and CI/CD processes.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, security principles, and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience managing resources in a multi-account environment.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.
- Experience in developing infrastructure-as-code and build pipeline deployment practices.
- Proficiency in cloud cost optimization and performance tuning.
- Previous NORC experience valued.

Benefits & conditions
The pay range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000.
This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC's comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:
