Job description
The Field Solutions Engineer within Bechtel Equipment Operations (BEO) Solutions & Development (S&D) supports the identification, development, piloting, and deployment of innovative field solutions that improve project execution, safety, productivity, and cost certainty across Bechtel projects. Based in Sugar Land, TX, this role bridges field operations, engineering, digital enablement, and innovation management. Unlike traditional field engineering roles focused primarily on day-to-day site execution, the S&D Field Solutions Engineer works across multiple projects and business units to evaluate new technologies, refine execution models, support pilot programs, and develop scalable solutions that can be standardized and deployed across Bechtel's global portfolio. The role is well suited for individuals with a strong interest in construction methods, equipment, automation, digital tools, and continuous improvement, who are looking to influence how Bechtel executes work in the field. #LI-BH1 Major Responsibilities:

- Work with project teams to understand field challenges and identify opportunities where new solutions can drive safety, productivity, schedule, or cost improvements.
- Assist in defining pilot scope, success criteria, risk identification, and execution plans for field trials.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize pilot data, lessons learned, and field feedback to inform go/no-go decisions and scalable deployment strategies.
Project & Field Engagement
- Interface directly with project field teams to support planning, mobilization, and execution of approved solutions.
- Assist with constructability reviews, temporary works concepts, installation methodologies, and workface planning as needed to support solution deployment.
- Support field observations and readiness assessments to ensure solutions are implemented safely and effectively.
- Coordinate with craft, supervision, and operations personnel to ensure solutions integrate into existing work processes.
Engineering, Planning & Documentation
- Prepare and review drawings, sketches, workflows, installation guides, and work packages related to field solutions.
- Support quantity takeoffs, basic cost inputs, and schedule considerations associated with solution deployment.
- Review vendor and supplier technical information, submittals, and equipment documentation for compliance with Bechtel and project requirements.
- Maintain structured documentation including pilot plans, execution procedures, risk registers, test results, and closeout reports.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Support engagement with external vendors, OEMs, and technology providers under the direction of S&D leadership.
- Assist with equipment trials, demonstrations, and performance evaluations.
- Coordinate internally with Engineering, Supply Chain, ES&H, Quality, and Operations stakeholders to align solution development and approvals.
Safety, Quality & Risk Management
- Promote and support Bechtel's safety culture and ensure all solutions are implemented in compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Assist in identifying and documenting safety risks, operational risks, and mitigations associated with new field solutions.
- Support inspections, testing, and validation activities during trials and early deployments.
Continuous Improvement & Analytics
- Analyze field and pilot data to quantify benefits, identify improvement opportunities, and support business cases.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of field execution practices.
- Support development of standardized processes, guidance, and training materials for broader solution adoption., For decades, Bechtel has worked to inspire the next generation of employees and beyond!
