Data Scientist/ AI Backend Engineer - INTL India

A global electronics and semiconductor manufacturing company is seeking 4 strong AI Engineers to join their team to support ongoing digital transformation initiatives. This is an immediate need, a 12 month contract opportunity with the possibility of extensions and will sit remotely in India.

Candidates should also have experience working with Azure ecosystem tools and services, including CI/CD workflows and data services. The role involves developing production APIs, orchestrating AI workflows, integrating enterprise data, and operationalizing AI solutions. Candidates should have expertise in at least one AI framework, adapt quickly to new AI methods, and possess strong collaboration and communication skills for agile, global teamwork.

Core Requirements (Must Have)

Backend Engineering

• Strong Python development experience building production-grade services (code quality, testing, debugging, performance).

• Proven experience building and maintaining FastAPI services, including async execution patterns, API design and error handling.

• Basic experience with CI/CD practices and Git, with the ability to understand and work with CI/CD workflows in the Azure ecosystem.

RAG

• Demonstrated experience building RAG systems end to end in real implementations.

• Experience implementing RAG ingestion pipelines, including document ingestion and parsing, chunking, embedding generation, and indexing.

• Hands-on experience with retrieval and search techniques used in RAG, such as hybrid search and vector-based retrieval, and improving retrieval quality through tuning and evaluation.

AI Agents Framework

• Expertise in at least one AI framework, for example LangChain, Microsoft Agent Framework, Semantic Kernal, Google ADK

• Good understanding of agentic architecture patterns such as tool or function integration, state management, and orchestration

Data and Storage

• Experience with SQL data systems, particularly Microsoft SQL Server, Proficient in writing, validating, and optimizing SQL queries, as well as ingesting data into SQL Server databases.

• Familiarity with NoSQL data handling, preferably Azure Cosmos DB, with exposure to managing unstructured or semi-structured data.

Ways of Working

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, and comfortable working agilely with cross-functional teams across the globe., * Strong python engineering/ data science experience

• 2-3 years of experience building FastAPI based backend applications
• at least 1 year of experience in building AI agents and agent workflows - Copilot Studio experience, including building agents and understanding integration approaches such as publishing web or integrating via API patterns.

• Microsoft Agent Framework experience, including agent hosting patterns and integration with backend services.
