Job description
TechPro, Inc. is seeking a Linux-focused Support Specialist with strong troubleshooting abilities, solid experience managing Linux servers, and a working understanding of Windows systems. The majority of your work will revolve around Linux infrastructure, but you'll also assist with Windows server/desktop issues when needed.
What You'll Do
Linux Responsibilities
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues on Linux servers including services, networking, storage, performance, and systemd operations.
· Manage and maintain Debian/Ubuntu/CentOS-based environments, including updates, package management, kernel patches, and service configurations.
· Work with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, LXD, KVM/QEMU) hosting Linux guests.
· Diagnose and resolve SSH, firewall, routing, VLAN, and TCP/IP-level problems.
· Maintain and troubleshoot hosted applications and services running on Linux (Nginx, Apache, MariaDB/MySQL, PHP-FPM, mail services, etc.).
· Assist with monitoring systems, logs, and metrics to identify issues before they cause downtime.
· Support Asterisk/FreePBX/VOIP-related Linux systems (experience preferred, but not required).
· Participate in maintaining infrastructure automation, scripting, and configuration improvements.
Windows Responsibilities
· Provide support for Windows Server and Windows desktops as needed.
· Troubleshoot Active Directory basics (logins, permissions, DNS entries, user/group issues).
· Resolve common workstation problems: profile issues, printers, Windows updates, software installs, driver conflicts, login errors.
· Assist with basic server roles such as DNS, DHCP, File Services, and share/NTFS permissions.
· Troubleshoot network connectivity issues on Windows machines (NIC resets, Winsock corruption, SMB access issues, mapped drive failures).
General Technical Responsibilities
· Diagnose hardware, software, and network issues across varied client environments.
· Assist in maintaining both hosted and on-prem infrastructure systems.
· Perform occasional on-site visits to customer locations (personal vehicle may be required).
· Work tickets and be available for occasional overtime, evenings, or weekends as needed.
· Provide clear written documentation for support actions and customer communication.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Windows?, · Strong hands-on Linux experience (Ubuntu/Debian/CentOS or similar).
· Solid understanding of Windows Server and Windows desktop OS.
· Familiarity with core networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing fundamentals).
· Ability to quickly analyze issues, think critically, and solve problems effectively.
· Strong written communication skills for documentation and customer updates. Reliable, punctual, and professional.
· Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
· Must pass drug screen and background check.
· Must be able to obtain a conceal carry permit.
· Must be located near Venice, FL.
