Data Center Technician - Vega, TX

As a Data Center Technician, you will work with state-of-the-art computing and networking equipment to ensure optimal uptime and provide regular basic repair services. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn about our network technologies and will demonstrate the ability to adapt to evolving systems. You should also be able to stay current with emerging technologies. An analytical mindset is essential for troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with mining equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and minimizing turnaround times.

The Data Center Technician will perform routine maintenance under general supervision. This position ensures that the facility remains available for use and is consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition. The role involves operating various maintenance and mining tools and equipment, as well as performing other related tasks as directed by the Associate Manager and/or Manager of Data Center Operations.

Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:

Operations Management:

• Monitor, maintain, and optimize all critical data center systems, including power distribution units, UPS systems, cooling infrastructure, backup generators, and fire suppression systems to ensure continuous and efficient mining operations.
• Carry out basic miner repairs and maintenance, flash firmware on miners, and handle associated miner tools and equipment.
• Perform general facility duties as assigned.
• Support preventative maintenance schedules, performing regular inspections, cleaning, and necessary repairs on all data center equipment to prevent unplanned downtime.

Incident Response:

• Quickly identify and troubleshoot infrastructure and miner issues, coordinating with multiple teams to resolve technical problems and restore service with minimal disruption to mining activities.

Reporting and Analysis:

• Monitor and contribute to detailed performance reports, including metrics such as uptime, power usage, and environmental conditions, to assist with decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Beginner to intermediate knowledge of data center infrastructure, including electrical systems, cooling systems, and network architecture, specifically within the context of Bitcoin mining operations.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical issues related to power, cooling, and network systems.
• Knowledge of data center best practices, standards, and maintenance procedures is preferred but not required.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to react quickly to critical incidents.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and team collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with safety standards, energy efficiency practices, and compliance regulations in data center operations., * High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3+ years of experience in IT/computer hardware, systems/electrical engineering, network administration, and/or troubleshooting.
• Bitcoin mining experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in English is required.
• A basic understanding of IP addressing, subnets, and small electronics or medium to low-voltage electrical systems is a plus.
• Flexibility to adapt to various tasks and environments.
• Physical stamina: the ability to stand for 7+ hours per day.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Tolerance for harsh environmental conditions, including both indoor and outdoor settings.
• Must pass a motor vehicle check.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the designated work site.
