Job description
Client is seeking a Senior Server Operating Systems Engineer to design, implement, secure, and sustain enterprise-wide Windows and Linux server environments supporting mission-critical DoD operations. This role is responsible for modernizing and maintaining server operating systems in compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, RMF requirements, and DISA STIGs while enabling scalable IaaS and PaaS capabilities across classified and unclassified environments., Design, deploy, harden, and maintain enterprise Windows Server and Linux operating systems Implement and sustain Active Directory, Group Policy, LDAP, DNS, PKI, and identity services Apply and validate DISA STIGs, SCAP scans, and RMF security controls Automate system provisioning, patching, and configuration management Support OS lifecycle sustainment, modernization, and upgrade efforts Participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and technical change reviews Troubleshoot complex OS-level issues across virtualized and physical systems Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and system diagrams Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and virtualization teams Support audits, inspections, and Security Readiness Reviews (SRRs)
Requirements
Minimum of 8 years of experience supporting enterprise Windows and Linux server environments Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2019 or later and RHEL 8 or later Experience implementing RMF, DISA STIGs, SCAP, and DoD 8500/8510 requirements Strong experience with Active Directory, GPOs, WSUS, LDAP, DNS, and PKI Proficiency with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent) Security+ certification (DoD 8570/8140 compliant), Microsoft or Red Hat intermediate-level or higher server certification Experience with Red Hat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform, or Red Hat IdM Experience supporting VMware-based enterprise environments Familiarity with DoD cloud or hybrid infrastructure deployments
