Job description
DigitalForce Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Contract Network Engineer to support a major transportation authority in Metro Atlanta. This role operates within the Office of Technology Infrastructure and Production and requires a hands-on professional capable of supporting mission-critical systems in a 24/7/365 environment.
Work Schedule
- Must be available to work rotating shifts
- Including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Contract staff are required to work in shifts, providing continuous 24/7/365 operational support
Key Responsibilities
Project Collaboration:
Work with project managers to configure and deploy network and security hardware in accordance with project requirements.
Stakeholder Implementation:
Collaborate with business units and stakeholders to implement, configure, and optimize the central monitoring system for business continuity.
Network Design and Testing:
Design and test wireless, LAN, WAN, and Internet communication systems to ensure optimal performance.
Network Maintenance Coordination:
Supervise network maintenance activities for the authority and external transit agencies.
Performance Monitoring:
Continuously monitor network performance, analyze traffic volume, and coordinate proactive maintenance to address faults.
Network Facility Management:
Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of network facilities, including PRI circuits, T1 lines, and DSL.
Technical Knowledge:
Understand communication services and protocols such as LAN, WAN, DNS, SMTP, and routing protocols like EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate documentation and diagrams of network structures and develop proposals for new LAN/WAN installations.
Hands-On Experience:
Demonstrate skills in patch management and manage break-fix situations effectively with various stakeholders.
Risk Mitigation:
Identify network vulnerabilities and develop risk management strategies.
Disaster Recovery Plans:
Prepare and test disaster recovery plans to ensure functionality during outages.
Backup Administration:
Manage backup architecture using diverse solutions.
Security Compliance Knowledge:
Be familiar with security governance standards, including PCI, HIPAA, CJIS, and Georgia Criminal Information Center guidelines.
Requirements
- Experience in transportation, government, or large enterprise environments
- Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (PCI, HIPAA, CJIS, GCIC)
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
