Job description

We are looking for an Infrastructure Services Service Lead to take end-to-end accountability for the operational management, security, and continuous improvement of our Middleware and Database estate within a leading insurance environment. Working closely with a managed service partner, you will ensure platforms are resilient, compliant, and aligned to enterprise standards, while driving service excellence and strong delivery outcomes.

This role blends technical leadership, service management, and stakeholder engagement, with a strong focus on security, automation, and continuous improvement.

About the Team

You will join a collaborative Infrastructure Services function responsible for the stability and evolution of core enterprise platforms supporting insurance operations. The team works closely with Security, Application, Architecture, and Technical Assurance teams and partners with a managed service provider to deliver high-quality, secure services at scale.

Role Responsibilities

  • Operationally manage the Middleware and Database estate in partnership with the managed service provider
  • Ensure platforms are patched, secure, and kept current at all times
  • Lead timely end-of-life (EOL) remediation initiatives
  • Drive vulnerability management, including critical and zero-day remediation
  • Ensure all platforms are built and maintained in line with enterprise standards
  • Oversee platform-related projects, delivering on time and within budget
  • Hold the managed service provider accountable for SLA-based delivery and service outcomes
  • Maintain platform security, confidentiality, integrity, and compliance within the organisation's security framework
  • Provide leadership to the Middleware and Database engineering teams
  • Build and sustain a performance-based culture, including coaching and mentoring
  • Provide technical guidance and escalation support where required
  • Identify and deliver continuous improvement and automation opportunities
  • Develop strong working relationships across Security, Applications, Architecture, and Assurance teams
