Job description
Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Test Lab Engineer to work out of its state-of-the-art facility inSidney, NY.
The Test Lab Engineerwill plan and perform product engineering assignments related to design, development or evaluation work. Apply sound engineering techniques and practices in performing assigned tasks. Works under minimum supervision, providing technical direction to Lab Technicians. Responsible for a portion of Test Lab equipment. Operates in a team-based work setting.
The key responsibilities of theTest Lab Engineer include, but are not limited to:
- Perform routine and customized mechanical and electrical tests on electrical connector products
- Review and provide feedback on work instruction submitted by Engineering/Quality/Process
- Develop and review test datasheets and sample preparation materials, ensuring alignment with test procedures, reference documents, and industry standards
- Write and enhance new and existing test procedures
- Write and review technical memos and engineering reports
- Provide verification testing for Manufacturing
- Assists with failure analysis of connector assemblies and components
- Perform various qualification projects for Mil/Aero QPL connector products
- Assists with qualification testing for products in both Mil/Aero and Commercial/Industrial products
- Research equipment, procedural and software enhancements
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related Engineering discipline plus a minimum of 2 - 4 years of applicable work experience, an equivalent of education and qualifying experience is acceptable
- Requires a thorough working knowledge of engineering principles as applied to electrical connectors
- Must have a good working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office
- Basic expertise in programming automatic test equipment is required
- Familiarity with Military Specifications/Standards and Industry Standard test methods and equipment for connectors required
- Knowledge of AS400 programs for product information and purchasing requisitions preferred
- Must be capable of independently representing the company
- The position requires movement between test equipment and some minor lifting is required
- Occasional travel (10%), Amphenol offerscompetitive payand benefits. The candidate must be able to legally work in the United States; we are unable to provide sponsorship.This position requires access to controlled technology that is subject to US export controls. Qualified candidates must be a US person (including US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) or eligible to obtain required authorization(s) from the U.S. Government.
