Union Power Cooperative has an immediate opening for the position of Engineering and Operations Customer Support Specialist who will provide specialized customer support to the Cooperative's high-volume customers such as homebuilders, developers, and electricians while continuously remaining focused on the Cooperative's Mission and Vision Statements, and the promotion of the Cooperative's Guiding Values., * Transmits and/or receives, organizes, documents, and archives items related to service requests from the Cooperative's high-volume customers such as county and municipal electrical inspection approvals, and any other forms, documents, permits and releases.
- Schedules staking appointments for staking personnel and contractors.
- Promptly updates the status of service requests with regard to (1) and (2) above.
- Serves as a single point of contact for the Cooperative's high-volume customers needing to initiate or seek the status of service requests.
- Processes both temporary and permanent inspections for all Union Power members and creation of Service Orders to process the connection request.
- Dispatch service orders to field personnel.
- Update and maintain data in the digital workflow system that includes appointments, inspections, and service order requests.
- Applies independent judgment regarding the elevation of situations that may involve significant levels of risk.
- Receives reports of damages to the system by UPC personnel and contacts responsible parties to request repairs or create Service Orders and routes to the correct department.
- Stays up to date with all aspects of Union Power Cooperative's services, processes, communications, and operations.
- Contributes ways to improve services, processes, communications, and operations, and inform management on these improvement ideas.
- Provides administrative support to the entire Engineering and Operations division as needed.
- Perform all duties assigned by supervision.
Requirements
- A high school diploma is required for this position.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing when performing essential functions of the position. Must have a friendly and pleasant demeanor and the ability to communicate effectively with people of various backgrounds and in a variety of situations.
- Must be able to deliver exceptional customer service when communicating via any type of communication.
- Must be able to efficiently organize, coordinate, and complete duties with numerous interruptions.
- Ability to read and interpret both digital and paper maps.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Previous utility experience preferred and/or customer service experience preferred.
- Ability to learn fundamentals of electric utility systems and their operation.
- Ability to learn engineering applications such as scheduling applications and customer information systems.
- Must be willing to attend courses related to work.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
