Job description
Due to our FBI policies and guidelines that CABINET must follow, individuals working at the CABINET IT must be U.S. citizens. Cabinet Information Technology Branch seeks an individual to work as a Network Engineer/Administrator. Cabinet is seeking one contract position for a Network Engineer/Administrator in the Information Technology Branch's Criminal Justice Systems Support Section., * Main responsibility is to administer the CABINET network along with coordination with the Commonwealth Office of Technology (COT). This includes the CABINET physical location networks, including primary and secondary networks. Also includes managing and administering mobile cellular routers in cruisers.
- Troubleshoot problems with networking. Working with CABINET and COT field techs.
- Use remote tools to help fix network and system issues.
- Work with vendors for support on networking.
- Coordinate with the Commonwealth Office of Technology Network Operations and Edge Branches.
- Assists with and maintains the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Kentucky network.

Requirements
- Network fundamentals include TCP/IP, the OSI model, subnetting, VLANs, routing, and switching. Knowing firewall and security principles a plus.
- Troubleshooting skills including diagnosing connectivity issues, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere
- Ability to create technical documentation
- Provide Tier 3 support to other personnel in the IT Branch
- Ability to receive training and retain new knowledge
- Ability to be professional and courteous
Benefits & conditions
- 8 am - 5 pm (the position will have a desk at 1266 Louisville Road, Frankfort). The position requires physical work on equipment in the main CABINET Data Center and in remote server rooms across the Commonwealth. Travel away from Frankfort will be necessary, and a CABINET IT Pool vehicle will be provided.
