Job description
We are seeking a Technical Engineer III with deep experience in cloud networking, Azure, and Aviatrix. The engineer will design, build, and automate cloud infrastructure while supporting an environment that includes Checkpoint firewalls and F5 load balancing. The role requires hands-on engineering and strong architecture awareness. Key Responsibilities Cloud Network Engineering (Azure + Aviatrix) Engineer and deploy cloud network architectures within Microsoft Azure. Build and support cloud infrastructure using the Aviatrix Cloud Networking Platform, including Controllers, Gateways, CoPilot, and network automation components. Automate infrastructure deployments using Terraform, Python, or equivalent IaC tools. Design resilient hub-and-spoke and transit network topologies for multi-cloud and hybrid environments. Integrate Aviatrix with enterprise routing, VPN, ExpressRoute, segmentation, and security controls. Firewall & Security Engineering Support and maintain Checkpoint firewalls, including rule management, security policy updates, migration support, and troubleshooting. Work with network security and architecture teams to ensure compliance with enterprise security baselines. Implement segmentation, Zero Trust controls, and cloud-aligned firewall policies. Load Balancing & Application Networking Provide engineering and operational support for F5 LTM / GTM / BIG-IP appliances. Assist in configuration, health checks, SSL termination, iRule logic, and traffic troubleshooting. Help integrate traditional load-balancing patterns with cloud architectures. Infrastructure Engineering Design, deploy, and operate enterprise cloud infrastructure in Azure using best practices. Perform advanced troubleshooting for cloud networking, connectivity, firewall, and load-balancer-related issues. Develop and maintain runbooks, architecture diagrams, standards, and automation scripts. Work collaboratively with Cloud, Security, App, and Network Engineering teams on enterprise-scale initiatives.
Requirements
7-10+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, cloud engineering, or infrastructure engineering. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, Azure Firewall, UDRs, VPN/ExpressRoute, ALB/ILB). Proven expertise deploying and automating systems using Aviatrix. Experience with Checkpoint firewalls (R80.x preferred). Experience supporting F5 BIG-IP (LTM/GTM/iRules). Advanced understanding of routing, BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN, IPSec tunneling, and hybrid connectivity. Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform strongly preferred). Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash). Ability to be onsite in Buffalo 4 days per week. Preferred Experience Aviatrix ACE or ACE-Professional certification. Azure Network Engineer Associate / Azure Architect certifications. Experience integrating on-prem networking with cloud networking frameworks. Exposure to multi-cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud Platform). Knowledge of cloud governance, security controls, and automation frameworks. Soft Skills Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration abilities. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Able to work independently at an engineering/architecture level. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, complex enterprise infrastructure environment. This is a Contract position based out of Buffalo, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $44.99 - $74.98/hr.
