Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Firmware/Software to lead a global team of engineers focused on delivering high-quality embedded and control-system software for industrial automation products. The ideal candidate is both a strong technical leader and an effective communicator who can interface confidently with engineers, cross-functional teams, and customers., * Lead, mentor, and manage a global team of firmware and software engineers.

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight across embedded software development projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, product management, and customer-facing teams.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand requirements, present technical concepts, and support problem resolution.
  • Ensure software development processes meet quality, reliability, and performance standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in development practices, tools, and architecture.
  • Review technical designs, code, and system architectures to ensure alignment with product goals.
  • Coordinate with global engineering groups to ensure effective communication and project execution.

Requirements

This role requires deep technical understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating environments, and modern software engineering practices, along with the leadership ability to guide complex, mission-critical development programs ., * Proven experience managing firmware and/or software engineering teams in an industrial, embedded, or high-reliability environment.

  • Strong technical ability to interact with and challenge engineers on design, architecture, and implementation topics.

  • Experience working collaboratively with distributed or global engineering teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft TFS and GitHub for source control and DevOps workflows.

  • Solid understanding of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS); experience with Nucleus and VxWorks is a plus.

  • Proficiency in C and C++ programming.

  • Hands-on experience with Linux, especially in embedded or industrial applications.

  • Familiarity with software quality and static analysis tools such as Coverity, Squore, or similar.

  • Strong knowledge of computer architectures:

  • x86/x64 (Intel/AMD) single and multi-core systems

  • ARM Cortex single and multi-core processors

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical details clearly to customers and internal teams. Nice-to-Have Skills (Preferred)

  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), especially Foxboro DCS.
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems, automation platforms, and real-time industrial protocols.
  • Background in cybersecurity for embedded systems and industrial devices.
  • Experience with safety-critical software development practices (e.g., IEC 61508), * Bachelor's/Master's in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication for technical documentation and stakeholder updates.

Benefits & conditions

For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $168,800 - $211,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
