Job description
We are seeking a Modern Data Engineer to support enterprise-scale data platforms in a hybrid on-premises and cloud environment. This role will focus on building and optimizing reliable data pipelines, supporting analytics and reporting, and helping evolve the organization toward a Databricks Lakehouse future state. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a regulated, production-critical environment and is eager to leverage modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development., Data Engineering & Platform Development
- Design, build, operate, and optimize batch and streaming data pipelines
- Develop and maintain robust ETL pipelines using SSIS (or equivalent tools)
- Transform raw data into curated, reusable datasets that are easy to analyze
- Work across relational databases, data lakes, and NoSQL systems
- Support enterprise analytics and reporting solutions, including Power BI
- Contribute to the evolution toward a Databricks Lakehouse architecture
Database & Modeling
- Develop complex queries and transformations using SQL
- Design and maintain data models, including star schemas and dimensional models
- Work hands-on with SQL Server in production environments
Orchestration, CI/CD & Modern Engineering
- Work with data orchestration tools such as Airflow or equivalents
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows for data solutions
- Ensure reliability, quality, and maintainability of data pipelines in production
AI-Assisted & Automation Practices

Requirements
-
5+ years of experience in a data engineering or software engineering role

Experience working in enterprise environments with a mix of on-prem and cloud technologies

Strong SQL skills with proven data modeling experience

Hands-on experience with:

SQL Server

SSIS (or similar ETL tooling)

Power BI for analytics and reporting

Experience with Spark-based platforms, with Databricks as a desired or future-state technology, * Strong communication skills, both technical and non-technical

Comfortable collaborating directly with engineers, analysts, and managers

Ability to work effectively in the electric utility / operations domain

Proven ability to operate in a regulated, production-critical enterprise environment
Benefits & conditions
- $77,000-90,000 per year, + $100,000-145,000 per year
