Job description
CoreWeave is seeking a highly skilled and motivated manager to join our Hardware Engineering Team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Hardware Engineering. In this role you will support the Hardware Engineering (METAL) team. METAL is responsible for building firmware bundles, testing, validation, automation, sustaining support, and hardware failure analysis.
You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the team's roadmap, creating a hiring plan to grow the team, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, managing the team's day to day workloads, and working closely with CoreWeave hardware vendors on advanced failure analysis. Your Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a team who is focused on rapidly delivering high quality results
- Manage day to day workloads, sprints, and long term project planning
- Identify opportunities to improve process flows and speed through systems and tools
- Develop measurable goals for the team and ensure alignment to deliver
- Facilitate constructive communication across all teams, and provide coaching and counseling by mentoring, one-on-one meetings, and regular performance feedback
- Work closely with recruiting team to attract and evaluate talent
Team Responsibilities:
- Provide sustaining hardware and software support to internal teams
- Develop and maintain tooling to support CoreWeave's hardware/firmware automation and monitoring
- Perform hardware failure analysis and track RMAs with hardware vendors
- Create and maintain accurate documentation of hardware designs, specifications, test procedures, and results
Requirements
- 3+ years experience managing operational teams
- A passion for leading emerging teams in a fast-paced environment
- Hands on experience with datacenter class hardware and infrastructure
- Experience coaching staff that work on challenging issues and solutions that are scalable and executed rapidly
- Prior success in creating processes and developing cross-disciplinary collaboration between engineering, operations, support, sales, and product groups
- Enthusiasm for staffing, interviewing, growing and retaining talent
- Drives operational excellence through scalable, efficient processes
- Highly effective communicator with the organizational rigor to align cross-disciplinary stakeholders and drive execution
- Exceptional attention to detail and follow-up
Nice-to-haves:
- Prior experience managing distributed teams with a mix of hardware and software engineers
- Prior experience working upstream with open source projects
- Strong JIRA experience
Benefits & conditions
The base salary range for this role is $165,000 to $242,000. The starting salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. We strive for both market alignment and internal equity when determining compensation. Our Workplace
While we prioritize a hybrid work environment, remote work may be considered for candidates located more than 30 miles from an office, based on role requirements for specialized skill sets.
