Job description
Are you a strong Senior Developer ready to step into a Tech Lead role where you can stay hands-on while shaping products that genuinely improve lives?
We're partnering with a market-leading technology business in the UK health & social care space, delivering digital solutions that support hundreds of thousands of frontline care professionals and service users every day. This is a rare opportunity to work on high-impact, real-world systems at scale.
With remote-first working and just one or two visits per month to locations across the South Coast, Bristol, and Bath, this role offers the chance to lead, innovate, and grow in a collaborative, product-led engineering environment - with all travel, accommodation, and food fully covered.
What you'll do
Take on a 70/30 split between hands-on engineering and leadership, writing production code daily across the full stack
Lead a small team of up to three developers, mentoring through pairing, code reviews, and day-to-day technical guidance
Work as part of a cross-functional product trio alongside a Product Owner and designer in an agile environment
Contribute to architectural decisions, technical planning, and delivery management while maintaining high engineering standards
Build and scale systems handling thousands of requests per minute across large, complex datasets
Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, AWS infrastructure, and DevOps practices
Contribute to integrations with third-party systems, ensuring seamless data flow across platforms
Requirements
Back end: Ruby on Rails, PHP (Symfony), Python, Node.js (AWS Lambdas)
Front end: Vue.js, TypeScript
Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB
Cloud / DevOps: AWS, CI/CD, automation, observability, scalable infrastructure
You don't need experience with every technology listed - strong fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly are key.
What we're looking for
Strong software engineering experience across at least two languages or frameworks, with a solid object-oriented background
Experience with technologies such as Ruby, Java, C#, PHP, or similar
Comfortable working across the full stack - database, backend, frontend, and infrastructure
Experience mentoring or leading developers, or a clear desire to step into leadership
A product-focused mindset - building systems for long-term scalability and maintainability
Passion for clean code, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Familiarity with AWS, CI/CD, and scalable system design
Interest in using technology to make a meaningful impact within the care sector, A hands-on leadership role where you'll still be coding every day
A strong engineering culture focused on quality, learning, and teamwork
The chance to build and scale systems used by hundreds of thousands of users
