COBOL Mainframe Developer

We are seeking a highly experienced and consultative Senior COBOL Mainframe Developer to support a financial services project focused on system enhancements and optimization. The ideal candidate will work on complex legacy applications, ensuring performance, scalability, and compliance while collaborating closely with business stakeholders. This role requires strong expertise in mainframe technologies and financial domain knowledge, with the ability to deliver high-quality solutions in an Agile environment.

• Strong experience in COBOL development (Batch & CICS)
• Hands-on expertise with CICS, MVS, JCL, and DB2
• Experience with Endevor (component management, packaging, migration)
• Performance tuning and optimization of mainframe applications
• Code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting
• Experience with VSAM files
• Knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies
• Strong experience in unit testing, system testing, and integration testing
• Experience in production support and issue resolution
• Familiarity with JIRA for tracking tasks and updates, * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 12 15+ years of software engineering experience
• Proven experience working in mainframe environments
• Strong experience in financial domain applications
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams

• Experience with lending systems and financial processes
• Understanding of accounting principles and regulatory compliance
• Experience with Intertest or Expediter debugging tools
• Background in student loan industry (preferred)
• Experience with test data setup, test plans, and documentation
• Experience in software security impact analysis and migration documentation
