Job description
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a senior cloud application developer to build and support services to be shared by multiple teams and projects across the Department. This position will contribute to DHHS IT program objectives while promoting and supporting enterprise reuse of components. The position will plan, analyze, design, and develop various Spring Boot microservices in the Azure cloud environment. The developer will also contribute to front-end React applications that consume those services as needed. This position will help design, build, and maintain the cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines which support these microservices.
***This is a full-time, on-site permanent position. It is not available as a contracted position. ***

Examples of Work
Under direct supervision, the Developer will:
- Assist senior developers while consulting with clients on Java React development projects.
- Use application development tools and utilities and appropriate. Write, debug, test, and document programs in Java React.
- Perform the functional and technical design and implementation in a large-scale IT environment including consideration of existing automated systems with considerable supervision.
- Software development activities; including requirements gathering, analysis, functional and technical design, construction and testing, implementation, and production support.
- Work closely with business analysts, other technical analysts, managers, and business sponsors.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working on small to medium sized projects. Associates degree or equivalent experience. Experience using Java, Spring Boot, REST API, HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
Other: Position is located on-site at the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln. No hybrid/remote work.

Candidates must be service oriented, have strong interpersonal and analytical skills that include working directly with various levels of business and technical staff to determine sound technical solutions for business requirements. Candidate must have strong technical, organization, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
