As a Risk Manager at Capital One you'll be responsible for working with business partners to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One. Risk Managers lead, advise and innovate on top transformational initiatives across the businesses in the first line of defense and are responsible for working with business partners to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One. You will collaborate with a team of risk managers responsible for working across the enterprise to develop and implement cutting edge risk solutions to ensure Capital One's continued growth and success.
Risk Managers have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to partner with Executives and their teams to identify potential risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded.
As a Risk Manager on the Customer Identity Management Team, you will be part of a smart, talented team engaged in our Operational Excellence journey for the Customer Identity landscape which includes intent creation, risk governance, process improvements, partnership conversions, and requirement building. This role will directly support new and innovative opportunities supporting the strategic governance of moving to our modernization core within the Customer Identity landscape as well as strategic relationship governance in our Partnership business for Capital One Trade Credit. You will collect and analyze data for supporting recommendations and manage formal process and requirement documents as we move towards an Enterprise Customer Identity landscape. Collaborate on project / agile risk teams as well as broader enterprise initiatives to represent the business for changes that may impact US Card / Customer identity processes. Collaborate with 2nd line business stakeholders to build relationships to drive risk management activities. Design and partner on a new approach for our process and data environment / ecosystem based on risk based modeling to ensure proper risk governance with an eye on driving a perpetual audit readiness environment.
Responsibilities:
- Consult on risk to business partners providing advice and guidance as required
- Lead incident support, awareness, and driving resolution with engagement across partner teams including Ops, Tech, Product, Compliance, and Intent
- High level of engagement with our partner teams and leveraging those relationships/interactions to drive opportunities for Customer Identity Strategy
- Lead projects in support of the broader Customer Identity Excellence strategy
- Leverage data and technology to enhance monitoring and to reduce manual processes
- Ensure a "Well Managed" risk approach to tools and documented processes used to deliver quality analysis and results
- Perform risk reviews during various processes such as Risk Control and Self Assessments (RCSAs), Process Level Assessments (PLA), Exceptions, Issues and Events, LAUNCH Assessments, Targeted Risk Assessments and recommend on risk mitigation activities.
- Lead, develop and drive new intent to impact our platforms from a customer identity lens and ensure the process framework is delivered within established Enterprise standards.
- Serve as a liaison, interfacing with business partners, Tech, and other assurance functions, such as legal, compliance to drive meaningful reductions in risk
- Effectively challenge business partners, 2nd line functions (ex: Compliance and Operational Risk Management ) and 3rd line (i.e., Audit/Credit Review)
- Collaborate on larger initiatives, including representing departments on broader change control forums for input and to represent department interests; may challenge forum decisions if project outcome impacts department processes. May participate in cross-functional project teams, including projects driven by other parts of the organization, to provide input, liaise with training, and partner with groups on execution efforts.
- Collect, analyze and measure data, to initiate sustainable business practices and procedures and for reporting to senior leadership and executives; review data for trends and gaps in the process that may require additional review.
- Resolve complex risk defects, problems or transactions, where expertise is required to interpret against controls, policies, guidelines or processes; escalate breakdowns in the process or controls by asking the right questions and identify/ involve the right stakeholders to correct breakdowns.
- Lead/support regulatory exams and audits
- Synthesize data and reporting; perform analysis and bring valuable proactive business insights through evaluation of data provided by team analysts
- Drive and deliver results and improvements in line with the business' well managed and risk agendas
- Stay current on the changing regulatory environment and understand the impacts to the businesses
- Collaborate effectively across multiple levels and organizations
- Collaborate effectively between risk, compliance and other business support functions (e.g., legal, privacy) (e.g., operations, risk management, enterprise management, etc.) to achieve objectives and support the organization in delivering on top priorities in a timely and efficient manner
- Lead or strategically advise on risk assessments
- Is a thought leader in providing guidance to businesses and supporting functions in implementing risk management practices
- Identify broader needs and lead problem solving using risk forums to influence change and continuous improvement of risk management practices
- Set direction, manage expectations and influence cross-functional teams

Requirements

- At least 4 years of first or second line Risk Management experience or Compliance, Legal, Audit, Risk Management experience
- At least 3 years of Project or Process Management experience
- At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or military experience

5+ years of Project Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk

4+ years of Compliance, Legal, Audit, or first or second line Risk Management experience

3+ years of experience in reporting and analyzing data

Professional certifications within risk management and/or assurance: Certified Risk Management Professional, Certified Internal Auditor,Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)

PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
Benefits & conditions
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
