Support the installation, configuration, management, and ongoing operation of software components across staging and production mainframe environments, including user support for loading regression files and testing components.

Lead and manage relationships with mainframe vendors related to upgrades, maintenance windows, and downtime, while supporting government-related work that requires timely, deliberate, and detail-oriented delivery.

Develop, maintain, and support CICS and batch caller applications for software components, including troubleshooting and debugging issues in collaboration with downstream teams and clients.

Perform performance testing and tuning of components to optimize processing speed and memory usage in alignment with company and client requirements.

Design, program, own, and support Java applications using industry-standard software engineering practices and collaborate with technical writers to create and maintain install manuals and user guides for mainframe-based software components., Onboarding Requirement: To improve the onboarding experience, you will have an opportunity to meet with your manager and other new employees as part of the Solventum new employee orientation. As a result, new employees hired for this position will be required to travel to a designated company location for on-site onboarding during their initial days of employment. Travel arrangements and related expenses will be coordinated and paid for by the company in accordance with its travel policy. Applies to new hires with a start date of October 1st 2025 or later.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university AND Six (6) years of Experience in software development, High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) and Ten (10) years in the years of experience in software development in lieu of the bachelor's degree education requirement, * Experience supporting and working within IBM's mainframe environment
- Five (5) years of mainframe administration experience
- Ten (10) years of software engineering experience on the mainframe
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution, with five (5) years of professional experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
- Experience maintaining mainframes, including installs, upgrades, patches, configuration, tuning, and mainframe/Unix partitioning
- Experience with mainframe technologies including COBOL/VSAM, BAL (assembler), OS/JCL, CICS, TSO, MVS, SCLM source control; ability to program, run jobs, and debug COBOL, Java, runtime errors, and complications
- Working knowledge of Java (OSGI bundle), object-oriented design and design patterns, and proficiency using IDEs such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, or Visual Studio for debugging, code completion, searching, and performance metrics
- Proficiency with software configuration management and build automation (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Maven, Ant), familiarity with GitHub Copilot or other agentic AI tools, and working knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, MSSQL)
- Experience with health information systems; familiarity with healthcare claims processing software and/or clinical classification methodologies preferred; familiarity with Agile Scrum, ability to take initiative, work in a team environment, and communicate clearly and effectively with customers

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $106,000 - $145,750, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
