Job description
The Siting and Routing Specialist will join an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment within AECOM's Mid-Atlantic Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) department. This role involves performing siting and routing studies for linear projects, transmission line and substation routing and siting alternatives development and/or siting for new oil and gas lines and transfer stations. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in these areas through GIS-based skills, siting and routing experience, technical writing and data analysis, and other demonstrated experience.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Conduct and lead siting and routing studies through development of potential routing and siting options within a geodatabase and ArcPro or other ESRI based GIS platforms. Experience in performing routing and siting should be demonstrated during the interview.

Support siting and routing studies by developing quantitative and qualitative outputs and metrics, mapping packages, technical siting study report writing, and completing environmental impact assessments.

Perform desktop environmental data inventory collection, data review, routing and siting analysis, and environmental impact assessments.

Participate in and lead client meetings, site walkdowns, assist in preparing for public meetings, and public utility commission filings for each project.

Assist with technical reviews and quality reviews of work completed by other staff and collaborate with other team members throughout the project to succeed in meeting important client driven deadlines.

Ability to work as a technical specialist as part of a larger team or work independently based on project needs.

Assist AECOM Senior Project Managers and AECOM Leadership with business development activities, proposals and qualifications packages and client development.
Requirements

BA/BS in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Studies, Geography/Regional Planning, or another related field + 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.

Siting and routing experience required.

Due to other nature of work, US Citizenship is required

Valid Driver's License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
5-10 years of direct siting, routing development experience, technical writing, data analysis, ESRI GIS experience directly related to transmission siting and routing studies, permitting and environmental impact assessment experience, and/or team leadership.

Assist with technical reviews and quality reviews of work completed by other staff and collaborate with other team members throughout the project to succeed in meeting important client driven deadlines.

Experience in the Mid-Atlantic region (PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA, WV, OH, IN, IL, KY; other state experiences will be considered).

Exhibit an in-depth working knowledge of the overall utility siting and routing processes, public utility regulations and application processes, and a working understanding of the desktop and field review processes which contribute to the siting and routing studies.

Technical writing experience specifically in authoring Siting and Routing reports.

Experience working in a fast-paced, demanding consulting environment and holds a high degree of self-motivation and team leadership skills.
Additional Information
- The position requires client travel and/or fieldwork, and the candidate must be able to travel (including overnight).
Benefits & conditions
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $86000 to $135000.
