Job description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a cross-functional team building advanced optimization software for a large-scale carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) system currently under development along the U.S. Gulf Coast. This role focuses heavily on data modeling, ontology design, and platform implementation using Palantir Foundry to support investment and operational decision-making. What You Will Do
- Contribute to the development of optimization tools supporting a scalable, world-class carbon capture system
- Design and implement the data layer of a complex application on the Palantir Foundry platform, including re-architecting existing solutions built in other technologies
- Convert existing data models into a Palantir Ontology representation
- Provide expert guidance on Foundry capabilities and best practices to other team members
- Recommend improvements to data models to enhance performance, scalability, extensibility, and flexibility
- Configure reliable, high-performance data ingestion and export pipelines between the Ontology and external data sources
- Implement data validations, transformations, and business logic using Foundry platform tools
- Develop interface code and examples to enable other applications and teams to easily consume Ontology data
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and stakeholders in an Agile environment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a quantitative discipline, or equivalent hands-on software engineering experience
- Multiple years of experience building data-intensive applications and/or working as a data engineer
- Strong, demonstrated experience building applications in Palantir Foundry, with an emphasis on:
- Data modeling
- Ontology design
- Ontology Manager
- Proficiency in Python for data processing and transformation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly understand complex systems and data architectures
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deliver high-quality work on schedule
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; experience working in Agile or Scrum teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with additional Palantir Foundry tools such as Workshop, Quiver, or similar modules
- Background in optimization, analytics, or decision-support systems
- Experience supporting large-scale industrial, infrastructure, or energy-related data platforms (not required)
