Job description
Aquila Technology is seeking a Systems Administrator t o join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations. We are looking for a high-quality, energetic Systems Administrator to join our team to turn futuristic R&D ideas into practical solutions to important problems., * User focused with the ability to support developers and researchers with desktop configurations, application installations, and development tools
- Serve as a first point of contact to users with technical issues
- Install, maintain, administer, troubleshoot, and support users with software and services
- Interact with users spending time solving unique problems
- Work closely on project teams to provide expertise to solve technical problems
- Recommend new technologies to support researcher and developer needs
- Apply and maintain system baseline configurations and security settings
- Track desktop system lifecycle, replacement and upgrades
- Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance, install and maintain system software
- Make recommendations for hardware and software purchases
- Ensure security compliance, respond to scan results, proactively remediate issues
- Interact with third-party technology vendors and internal providers
- Write scripts and use configuration management tools to automate repetitive tasks and manage complex deployments
- Maintain a solid understanding of Linux, Unix, Windows and macOS operating systems
- Interact with other system administrators, network engineers, service providers to meet program goals
- Perform system administration duties on offline and classified networks and systems
- Work in a small team, wearing many hats
- Also be enthusiastic, innovative and motivated self-starters able to work independently to complete tasks and meet goals
- Candidates must possess strong oral and written communications skills, and must be able to present findings/results to internal and external organizations.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 8 years Ability to work with internal teams (developers, administrators, IT security and data personnel)
- 5 years DevOps Best Practices
- 5 years Managing or operating containers
- 8 years Operating System (OS) platforms (Linux, Mac, Windows)
- 3 years Provisioning Automation: Kickstart, RHEL Satellite or Foreman
- 6 years Apple Product Lines
- 6 years Hardware: Dell & Apple
- 6 years Ansible, Docker, AWS, and CloudFormation and YAML scripting
- 5 years Development Tools (Eclipse, maven, git, github, JIRA, Jenkins, Puppet, etc.)
- 5 years Scripting Languages: Perl, Python, Shell Scripting, Powershell.
- 5 years Development Life-cycle knowledge
- 6 years Ansible Automation Platform to Support Linux systems
- 5 years DevSecOps environments (Github, Jfrog, Jenkins, GitLab, Fortify, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
- 3 years MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)
- 7 years Apple Macintosh
- 8 years Demonstrated technical depth with multiple Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, & Mac)
- 5 years Technologies including DNS, DHCP, Proxy and Load Balancing
- 3 years Virtualization Technologies (VMware, including ESXi and VCenter configuration)
Nice to Have:
- Embedded development toolchain and build experience
- Development experience on a Linux platform
- System programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Rust, or Go)
- Hardening systems to DoD IT security requirements, and policies (CMMC, RMF, STIGs)
- Administering Apache based applications
- AWS (EC2, S3)
- CI/CD pipelines tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Ansible, etc.)
- Administering classified Linux systems
- Administering classified Windows systems
- Configure and Manage Centralized Logging and Audit Capabilities
- Configuring systems for enterprise monitoring and alerting
- MS Active Directory, LDAP
- Relational database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
- SCCM, and Active Directory
- Systems Administration
- Virtualization Technologies to include VM management, Snapshots, SANs and iSCSI Storage Systems
- VM Ware ESXi and Associated Management Systems
Benefits & conditions

Tuition & Training Reimbursement- 5K annually for pre-approved, Eligible full-time team members who have completed a minimum ofsix (6) monthsof employment may apply for tuition reimbursement for approved, job-related courses taken through an accredited college or university. Team members must achieve a grade of "B" or better to qualify for reimbursement.Aquila will reimburse up to $5,000 per fiscal year for tuition expenses only. Expenses related to training programs, certifications, books, materials, meals, transportation, or other non-tuition costs are not eligible under the Tuition Reimbursement Program. All tuition reimbursement requests must be submitted to and approved by the team member's Manager prior to course registration. Reimbursement will be issued upon successful course completion and submission of final grades and proof of payment.
401K with Fidelity - Eligible to participate following 90 days of employment. Company match on employee contribution:
- $1/$1 up to 3%, then .50 cents / $1 for 4th and 5th %s
