The Information Security Officer (ISO) will be responsible for overseeing the campus-wide information security and privacy program. This individual will be an integral part of the Information Technology Services Division reporting directly to the CIO to help improve and communicate the maturity levels of information security, state of cybersecurity and IT risk management practices across the University. The ISO will lead and manage the campuswide information security and privacy program including awareness, training, intrusion prevention, incident response, risk assessment and compliance. This position will manage a team of information security professionals and student workers providing direction in strategic operations and developing security and business continuance standards action plans., Policy Development & Threat Capability Compliance - Oversees the ongoing development and implementation of USG information and cybersecurity policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure information security capabilities cover current threat capabilities that meet USG compliance requirements.
Infrastructure Deployment & Implementation - Directs the deployment of security infrastructure and the implementation of computer system security plans with University personnel and outside vendors.
Information Security & Risk Management - Develops and manages information security and risk management awareness and training programs and reviews technical risk assessments for new and existing applications and systems, including data center physical security and environment
Modeling and Forecasting - Reviews results of special investigations, internal audits, research studies, forecasts, and modeling exercises to provide direction and guidance.
Requirements
Educational Requirements Bachelors Degree
Required Experience A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in information security, risk management, or compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education Masters Degree
Additional Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Information Systems, Information Security, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Security specific License or Certification (Preferred) or Required within the first year of employment: CISSP, CISM, CISA, ' Ability to exhibit maturity, reliability, composure, and stability under pressure as required for handling on-the-job challenges is essential.
' Ability to stay up-to-date with the latest security threats, technologies, and industry regulations.
' Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and project management skills.
' Ability to direct and organize program activities.
KNOWLEDGE Experience in information security, risk management, and compliance.
' Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, particularly NIST. Knowledge in ISO 27001, HIPAA, and PCI DSS is a plus.
' Experience in conducting security audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability assessments.
' Knowledge of security technologies such as encryption, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and SIEMs.
SKILLS ' Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
' Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
' Familiarity with programming and scripting languages ' Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
