Job description
The Senior System Support Specialist is responsible for delivering reliable, high-quality Unix system administration and infrastructure support in data center environments. The role focuses on operational excellence, service stability, and effective incident resolution , ensuring that defined infrastructure standards and processes are consistently executed. The position supports Business Units in the United States and globally, contributing to system availability and customer service through strong technical execution., + Perform day-to-day and proactive maintenance of computer hardware, operating systems, software, and operations tools to support IT service delivery.

Execute preventive activities to improve system availability and reduce outages and performance issues, following established procedures and standards.

Provide administration and operational support for infrastructure services used by Operations, including Linux, HP-UX, and AIX operating systems.

Operate, monitor, and support operational tools such as HP Operations Manager / OpenView Operations and HP Insight Manager , ensuring accurate monitoring and response.

Support project implementations by validating readiness and acceptance criteria , in alignment with defined technical and operational standards.

Work closely with 1st and 3rd level support teams , ensuring effective collaboration, clear communication, and proper escalation of complex issues.

Participate in vulnerability management and risk remediation activities , applying defined controls and corrective actions.

Contribute to automation initiatives through shell scripting , scripting enhancements, and operational efficiency improvements.

Perform advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning for infrastructure-related incidents.

Support global Business Units by ensuring systems operate securely, reliably, and in line with service requirements.

Act effectively under pressure during incidents or peak workload periods, escalating appropriately when issues exceed defined scope or authority.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering , or equivalent engineering experience.

5+ years of experience in Unix system administration and infrastructure support within data center environments .

Strong hands-on experience with:

UNIX/Linux operating systems ( Linux, HP-UX, AIX )

Shell scripting and exposure to automation initiatives

Veritas VCS, Veritas Volume Manager, and Veritas File Systems

Solid knowledge of IT service management processes, including:

Problem Management

Experience working in enterprise, mission-critical infrastructure environments.
