Job description
You will work as a member of an active Agile development team, responsible for participating in all Agile ceremonies, updating Jira tasks daily, and contributing to our continuous improvement processes. You will work together with team members and stakeholders to test solutions that meet the client's needs. You will support business analysts, as needed, with the elicitation of requirements and analysis/design of secure solutions to meet customer needs. You will rotate with team members to provide Tier III support to our customer, interacting with users who are experiencing system issues or answering user questions. In support of this project and the customer's mission, you will do the following:
- Lead manual and automation testing, leveraging other BA/Tester team members for manual testing
- Create automated functional UI-based or services/API-based test suites for web-based systems, primarily using Selenium and related frameworks
- Perform manual integration, functional qualification, regression, and user acceptance testing
- Work with team members to create test strategies, ensuring appropriate test coverage
- Help collect and develop test data and technical information used for creating test suites
- Support the DevOps team in integrating the test suites into a continuous integration pipeline
- Document test strategies and results as needed
- Collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders to facilitate testing
- Update progress on User Stories in Jira, and support business analysts with generating process flows and creating/refining User Stories as needed
- Work with other team members to understand testing requirements and elicit requirements as needed
- Participate in, take notes (as needed), and lead (as needed) Agile Scrum meetings, such as Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Review/Planning, and Sprint Retrospectives
- Provide Tier III support and monitor the system for issues
- Communicate with clients and team members to troubleshoot system issues
- Help design, document, and maintain system troubleshooting processes
- Update and enhance the issue knowledge base
- Perform quality assurance and review the work of peers
- Identify and communicate areas for improvement in the application, customer business processes, and internal team operations
- Assist with the compilation of monthly system metric reports, as needed
Requirements
Dev Technology Group is recruiting for a Lead Automation Test Engineer to support a system that automates critical processes for both our government customer and noncitizens in the US. The candidate must be able to support business analysis tasks and production support of an enterprise application. The ideal candidate can work independently and collaboratively and is interested in supporting an important government mission., * Bachelor's degree plus at least 4 years of work experience testing web-based/cloud applications, preferably applications written in Java and/or C#/.NET
- Including at least two years of manual testing
- Including at least three years of automation testing
Experience with automated testing tools, including Selenium Web Driver and JUnit
Experience with automation testing frameworks, specifically Cucumber
Experience working with custom web apps (preferably Java-based)
Proficiency in one or more programming languages (i.e., Java or Python) to write test scripts and frameworks
Experience leading a major test effort
Experience assessing application functionality, creating/modifying test cases, setting up test data, testing the functionality, and documenting test results
Experience testing APIs with tools like Postman
Experience using SQL to query databases to confirm expected test results
Working knowledge of issue/bug tracking tools (Jira)
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing skills
Experience working with stakeholders to develop process flows and matrices to ensure proper test coverage
Ability to collaborate with team members to ensure client needs and expectations are met or exceeded
Ability to research problems, identify a root cause, and recommend and implement a solution
Aptitude for picking up technology quickly and a desire to learn new skills
Demonstrated passion for solving complex software challenges, and enjoys working alongside fellow team members to make that happen
Critical thinking skills - must be able to clearly define a problem or need, objectively analyze data around it, and use logical reasoning to draw well-supported conclusions/solutions
Detail-oriented and capable of producing a high level of accuracy
Strong interpersonal skills, practicing diplomacy and professionalism in all situations
A team player who takes initiative, but can also work independently, as well as follow directions needed
Solid organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience working in an Agile Development environment
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Possession of a current ICE clearance or any other DHS clearance
- Experience supporting a Federal Government client
- Experience working with a continuous integration pipeline with tools such as CloudBees (or Jenkins), Terraform, Nexus, Apache Maven/Gradle
- Experience using SoapUI, or Java-based wrappers, for web services testing
- Experience with JMS libraries to conduct EDI testing
- Experience with deployment to a government-supported cloud environment
- Familiarity with Lean principles, SAFe, and Kanban or other Agile methodologies besides Scrum
