Job description

We're working with a growing organisation looking to hire a PHP Developer to join their engineering team and support the ongoing development of their platform and APIs.

This is a hands-on role where you'll be involved in designing, building, and maintaining backend services using modern development practices. You'll work closely with developers, QA, and stakeholders to deliver new features, improve existing systems, and contribute to technical decisions as the platform evolves.

The Role

  • Develop, maintain, and optimise APIs and backend services
  • Write clean, scalable, and well-documented PHP code
  • Collaborate with frontend developers, QA, and stakeholders
  • Support and improve existing systems, troubleshooting issues where needed
  • Contribute to code reviews, testing, and CI/CD processes
  • Contribute to architectural and technical decisions

Requirements

  • Experience developing with PHP and Symfony
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs
  • Familiar with AWS and modern deployment practices
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL)
  • Comfortable working in collaborative, agile environments
  • Focused on writing clean, maintainable code

Desirable:

  • Frontend exposure (JavaScript, TypeScript, React)
  • Docker or containerised environments
  • Understanding of microservices or serverless architecture
  • Experience with automated testing
