Job description
This role sits within a cloud engineering function and is focused on building, operating and improving public-cloud capabilities across IaaS and PaaS. You'll be working mainly on Azure and Oracle Cloud, with AWS being introduced as an additional strategic platform. The post combines delivery and operational support, partnering with application and infrastructure teams to implement secure, scalable and cost-effective solutions, with a strong emphasis on automation and standards.
Role & Responsibilities:
Deliver and enhance cloud services across Azure (primary), Oracle Cloud and AWS.
Provide day-to-day operational support and contribute to project-based delivery for cloud consumers.
Work closely with application and infrastructure teams to implement secure, scalable platform patterns.
Continuously improve platform stability, security posture and cost management in partnership with the wider cloud team.
Create high-level and detailed designs aligned to functional and non-functional requirements.
Promote automation and engineering best practice (eg, IaC, repeatable deployments, and standardised. configurations).
Requirements
Proven Azure engineering capability, including Infrastructure as Code using Bicep and/or ARM templates.
Preferred: Microsoft Azure certification (AZ-104 or above).
Degree-level education, or equivalent professional experience
Strong Scripting skills (PowerShell essential; Python exposure beneficial).
Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud services.
Comfortable working with Git-based version control and standard branching practices.
Practical experience deploying and supporting public-cloud IaaS/PaaS services in production.
Able to translate requirements into resilient, scalable and cost-aware cloud designs.
Good working knowledge of identity, access control and cloud security good practice.
Desirable Skills:
AWS experience, including infrastructure provisioning using CloudFormation and/or Terraform.
(EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation), DNS/networking fundamentals, and CI/CD or automation tooling.)
Strong automation mindset with an ability to use Scripting to troubleshoot and remove manual steps.
Working knowledge of REST APIs and how to integrate with platform services.
