Senior Backend Engineer (TypeScript/GCP)
London (2/3 hybrid onsite presence), 6 Month Contract, Outside IR35
We're working with a high-growth fintech platform undergoing a major phase of product expansion. They are looking for Senior Backend Engineers to join an established team and contribute immediately to delivering production ready features across new product lines. This is a hands-on build role, ideal for engineers who are comfortable joining an existing codebase and shipping value from the first few weeks.
What You'll Be Doing
- Building and delivering end-to-end Back End features in a live production environment
- Writing production-quality code (tested, observable, scalable)
- Contributing to technical design decisions within your workstream
- Collaborating closely with engineers via code reviews and shared standards
- Taking full ownership of services, including debugging and ongoing improvements
Tech Stack (Must-Have)
- TypeScript (Node.js/Bun/Deno) in production
- SQL (schema design, performance tuning, migrations)
- Google Cloud Platform (eg GKE, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL)
- Event-driven/distributed microservices architecture
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years Back End engineering experience
- Recent, hands-on experience with TypeScript in production
- Strong experience working in live, scalable systems
- Proven track record as a contractor delivering quickly in existing teams
Nice to Have
- Experience in financial services/trading/investments platforms
- Exposure to order management, ledger systems, or reconciliation
- Familiarity with event sourcing or CQRS patterns
