Join a high-impact federal modernization program supporting mission-critical adjudication and risk decision systems for a U.S. government agency. As a Systems Architect III, you'll play a lead role in designing and architecting the enterprise data layer for a large-scale case management system modernization effort - replacing legacy infrastructure with a secure, scalable, cloud-enabled platform built for the future. This is a senior-level, hands-on architecture role where you'll define data standards, lead legacy-to-cloud migration initiatives, and collaborate across development, DevOps, and business teams to deliver high-availability, high-performance data solutions. - Define and enforce data architecture standards, controls, documentation, and operational procedures
- Architect and manage data environments across hybrid cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premises infrastructure
- Lead legacy-to-cloud migration initiatives and develop modernization roadmaps
- Design and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, ingestion workflows, and data integration processes
- Tune queries, indexes, and server configurations to ensure efficient, secure, and cost-effective data availability
- Advise development teams and business stakeholders on DBMS capabilities, data-driven solutions, and performance optimization
- Develop enterprise-wide data architecture blueprints and capacity planning strategies
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and analysts
- Partner with DevOps, data engineers, and cross-functional teams to align architecture with mission objectives
Requirements
- Deep expertise in enterprise DBMS platforms: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or equivalent
- Advanced T-SQL/SQL skills: query design, optimization, stored procedures, indexing strategies
- Strong data modeling background: ER modeling, normalization, schema design, data warehouse architecture
- Hands-on hybrid cloud experience designing and managing data across on-premises and cloud environments
- ETL/ELT proficiency: SSIS, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or equivalent
- NoSQL experience: architecting, creating, and managing NoSQL data solutions
- Security and governance knowledge: access controls, encryption, compliance, and auditability
- Performance engineering: query tuning, resource optimization, workload analysis
- Integration expertise: secure data movement between legacy systems and modern cloud repositories
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active Top Secret clearance required; must be eligible for T5 federally adjudicated clearance
- Education and experience: minimum 8 years with BS/BA; 6 years with MS/MA; 3 years with PhD
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
