This is a senior-level, hands-on architecture role where you'll define data standards, lead legacy-to-cloud migration initiatives, and collaborate across development, DevOps, and business teams to deliver high-availability, high-performance data solutions. If you thrive in complex federal environments and want ownership of enterprise-wide data architecture on a program that matters, this is the opportunity., * Design, develop, and implement enterprise-grade database management systems including relational architecture, metadata structures, and configuration management

  • Define and enforce data architecture standards, controls, documentation, and operational procedures
  • Architect and manage data environments across hybrid cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premises infrastructure
  • Lead legacy-to-cloud migration initiatives and develop modernization roadmaps
  • Design and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, ingestion workflows, and data integration processes
  • Tune queries, indexes, and server configurations to ensure efficient, secure, and cost-effective data availability
  • Advise development teams and business stakeholders on DBMS capabilities, data-driven solutions, and performance optimization
  • Develop enterprise-wide data architecture blueprints and capacity planning strategies
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and analysts
  • Partner with DevOps, data engineers, and cross-functional teams to align architecture with mission objectives

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in enterprise DBMS platforms: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or equivalent
  • Advanced T-SQL/SQL skills: query design, optimization, stored procedures, indexing strategies
  • Strong data modeling background: ER modeling, normalization, schema design, data warehouse architecture
  • Hands-on hybrid cloud experience designing and managing data across on-premises and cloud environments
  • ETL/ELT proficiency: SSIS, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or equivalent
  • NoSQL experience: architecting, creating, and managing NoSQL data solutions
  • Security and governance knowledge: access controls, encryption, compliance, and auditability
  • Performance engineering: query tuning, resource optimization, workload analysis
  • Integration expertise: secure data movement between legacy systems and modern cloud repositories
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Active Top Secret clearance required; must be eligible for T5 federally adjudicated clearance
  • Education and experience: minimum 8 years with BS/BA; 6 years with MS/MA; 3 years with PhD
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
