Job description

  • Perform Layer 1 network engineering tasks including running cables, making fittings, and wiring and labeling equipment.
  • Install, terminate, and manage coax cabling.
  • Install, terminate, and manage Cat5/Cat6 cabling.
  • Label, mark, and organize network equipment, modems, and cabling infrastructure.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and well-documented lab builds.
  • Support lab environments to enable efficient testing by other teams.
  • Follow standards for cable management, labeling, and documentation.
  • Work collaboratively within a growing team environment.

Requirements

Our client seeks a Network Engineer II with a Layer 1 focus to build and maintain clean, well-documented lab environments. The role centers on cable runs, terminations, fittings, and precise labeling across coax and Cat5/Cat6. You will support testing by preparing equipment racks and infrastructure to defined standards while collaborating with engineering teams. This position rewards reliable execution, attention to detail, and disciplined cable management practices.

  • Strong coax cable experience.
  • Experience with Cat5/Cat6 networking.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to clearly label, mark, and document work.
  • Basic headend experience (preferred).
  • Prior lab-based networking experience (preferred).
  • Background as a cable installer or technician with strong fundamentals (preferred).
  • Detail orientation and pride in clean, professional work.
  • Comfort with repetitive, hands-on tasks.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and consistency.
  • Willingness to learn while remaining focused on Layer 1 responsibilities.
  • Strong work ethic.

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
