Job description

Senior Engineer/ Leader accountable for building and maintaining platforms, ensuring capabilities are stable, scalable, align to business requirements, and are controlled per Truist technology standards. Leaders at this level will provide oversight and manage multiple platforms that are functionally aligned (e.g., business intelligence and reporting tools, data movement and storage, document and content management, AI and model management etc.)., Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  1. Design, build and execute the Data and Analytics platform strategy.
  2. Responsible for development and maintenance of one or more data platforms and tools, for safe and deliberate consumption throughout the organization.
  3. Accountable for managing multiple platform teams comprising of globally distributed full time platform engineers, platform leads and contract resources.
  4. Monitors progress of the team relative to established objectives and priorities. Manages performance and provides coaching as needed. Ensures that projects are delivered according to Enterprise Technology policies and procedures.
  5. Works closely with senior leaders within Enterprise Technology.
  6. Partner with production support teams to increase automation and monitoring, simplify data operations, increase resiliency.
  7. Adapts plans to meet service and/or operational challenges. Identifies and resolves technical, operational, risk management, and organizational challenges. Has full management responsibilities for teammates: hiring, disciplinary, coaching, terminating, performance reviews.
  8. In an Agile environment, may serve as the "Service Delivery Manager."

Requirements

  1. Undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, Information Systems or equivalent degree
  2. At least 6 years of senior level experience in leading engineering teams with demonstrated experience with the relevant platforms
  3. Demonstrated experience in project delivery and the management of the data lifecycle
  4. Deep experience in driving enterprise data execution, data operations, data engineering or software delivery
  5. Expert problem-solving skills and being able to define detailed strategies as required
  6. Experience in financial services industry
  7. Experience in meeting regulatory obligations and operating in a highly regulatory environment
  8. Experience in building a high performing team
  9. Ability to lead platform(s) of significant complexity and risk exposure, 1. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, Master's degree or MBA, and eight years of progressive experience managing complex IT projects
  10. Experience within Enterprise Data organizations preferably within a financial institution
  11. Skills demonstrated in data engineering, computer engineering, data transformation (ETL), BI, digital transformation and regulatory program delivery is preferred.
  12. PMP certification or SAFE certification preferred
  13. Well-versed in managing distributed teams comprised of both onshore and offshore
  14. Prefer experience with Alation and Ataccama
