Job description

  • Under limited supervision, this position serves as Systems Administrator.
  • The role focuses on the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of virtualization, Windows Servers, storage infrastructure, hyperconverged environments, cloud platforms, identity services, and related enterprise systems.
  • This position reports to the Interim CIO., * Provides advanced systems administration support, including installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance of enterprise servers, applications, databases, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Researches, troubleshoots, and resolves complex issues related to identity management, email, mobile devices, document management, system performance, availability, and related infrastructure.
  • Ensures security best practices are applied across systems, users, and departments.
  • Manages tier-two and escalated service requests for workstations, servers, printers, networks, and vendor-specific hardware / software.
  • Utilizes the automated ticketing system for full documentation of all work performed, including incidents, service requests, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, configurations, changes, and preventive maintenance.
  • Serves as the primary administrator for a complex server and SAN environment, VMware virtualization infrastructure, Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure, and VDI solutions.
  • Monitors computer resources, performs daily system backups, manages Active Directory, VMware systems, and Microsoft 365 administration (including Exchange, OneDrive, Teams, and related services).
  • Supports and deploys Hyperconverged (including Nutanix) or 3-tiered virtual environments. Builds, tests, and commissions virtualization solutions using VMware vCenter.
  • Provisions new virtual machines or performs physical-to-virtual (P2V) conversions.
  • Installs, configures, and deploys operating system and software patches to desktops and servers; maintains accurate documentation of infrastructure, services, and procedures.
  • Leads Incident Response activities, including identification, stabilization, resolution, documentation, and closure following established guidelines.
  • Develops and maintains System Design Documentation, Tailored Procedure Documents, and other technical records.
  • Performs advanced administration of Microsoft Azure cloud services, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune (for device and application management), and Okta for identity and security integrations.
  • Designs, implements, and administers Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Microsoft Certificate Services; creates, deploys, and manages digital certificates to servers, systems, and applications.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, which may occasionally fall outside the primary scope of this position.
  • Performance Indicators:
  • Knowledge of Job: Thorough knowledge of modern methods, concepts, practices, and principles related to the architecture, design, and integration of information systems and software applications. Considerable experience supporting end users through an automated service desk and ticketing system. Strong understanding of basic networking principles (DNS, DHCP, TCP / IP). Demonstrable experience with data storage systems (SAN / NAS) such as Pure Storage and / or NetApp, virtualization, backup technologies, application administration, hybrid datacenter environments (leveraging IaaS), SaaS platform management, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Okta identity and security integrations, Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) / Certificate Services. Experience with SAN / NAS solutions such as Pure Storage and / or NetApp is a plus. Experience working in environments that utilize formal Change Management and ITIL concepts is preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Systems, or a closely related field, plus a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Information Technology. At least 5 years must include hands-on maintenance of VMware, Active Directory, Storage Array, and Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure environments, and 3 years focused on Microsoft Windows servers, networking, and applications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Okta identity and security integrations, Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure administration, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) / Certificate Authority design and certificate deployment. Highly proficient in VMware deployment, support, and VDI solutions.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing server and data center hardware.
  • Strong experience with Windows Group Policy management, Windows patching / deployment, and scripting (for automation, deployment, and reporting).
  • Certifications and equivalent job experience may be considered in lieu of the formal education requirement.

  • Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of computer supplies magazines, reports, records, run sheets, invoices, purchase orders, etc. Requires the ability to prepare a variety of personnel memos, work schedules, forms, statements, bills, reports, checks, etc., using proper format.
  • Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages, including computer programming languages.
  • Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add, subtract, multiply, and divide; and to determine percentages, decimals, interest, and discount.
  • Form / Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape.
