Job description
As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining databases. You will install database management systems and develop procedures for day-to-day maintenance and problem resolution. You are expected to perform independently and become a subject matter expert. Active participation and contribution in team discussions are required, along with providing solutions to work-related problems. Advanced proficiency in Database Optimization & Tuning is required. Advanced proficiency in Database Management, Database Performance Management, and Database Activity Monitoring is suggested., * Lead SQL and PL/SQL development for three core banking applications, ensuring high standards of code quality, scalability, and maintainability.
- Design and develop robust, high-performance database solutions, including complex stored procedures, packages, triggers, and functions.
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and troubleshooting production performance issues.
- Own end-to-end delivery of database code, from requirement analysis through development, deployment, and production support.
- Manage and execute automated database deployments, integrating Datical with Bitbucket, Jenkins, and XLR to enable reliable and repeatable deployments across environments.
- Ensure seamless code promotion across lower environments (DEV, QA, UAT) while adhering to release and change management processes.
- Track requirements, development tasks, defects, and releases using Jira, ensuring accurate status reporting and delivery transparency.
- Collaborate closely with application developers, architects, QA teams, and release managers to align database changes with application releases.
- Provide ongoing production support, including incident resolution, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive fixes.
- Enforce database standards, best practices, and governance related to coding, performance, security, and deployment.
- This role requires 5 days away per quarter mandate by the client
- This role requires working on-site at the client's office three days per week.
Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of strong hands-on experience in SQL and PL/SQL development.
- Proven experience supporting core banking applications or large-scale, mission-critical enterprise systems.
- Strong expertise in database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with Datical (or similar database release automation tools).
- Solid experience integrating database deployments with Bitbucket, Jenkins, and XLR (or equivalent CI/CD and release tools).
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies for database code.
- Experience with Jira for requirement tracking, sprint execution, and defect management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Bachelor's Degree, * Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Exposure to database security, data governance, and regulatory compliance in financial systems.
- Experience mentoring junior developers or leading database development initiatives.
