Job description

We are seeking a skilled SQL Server / Azure SQL DBA to manage, maintain, and optimize database systems across on-premises and cloud environments. The role focuses on ensuring database performance, availability, security, and reliability while supporting business-critical applications., * Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases and Azure SQL environments

  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations
  • Manage backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning
  • Ensure high availability using replication, clustering, or Azure HA features
  • Implement and maintain database security (roles, permissions, encryption)
  • Troubleshoot database issues and provide root cause analysis
  • Perform database patching, upgrades, and migrations (on-prem to Azure)
  • Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts (PowerShell, T-SQL)
  • Work with development teams to design efficient database structures
  • Monitor and manage Azure resources, costs, and performance, * May involve on-call support for production systems
  • Hybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructure
  • Collaboration with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • 3-6 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022)
  • Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance
  • Proficiency in T-SQL (queries, stored procedures, functions)
  • Experience with backup/recovery models and HA/DR solutions
  • Understanding of performance tuning and query optimization
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and DMVs, * Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred)
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory)
  • Experience with database migrations and modernization projects
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines, * Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail and data integrity focus
  • Ability to work under pressure in critical situations
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Proactive monitoring and optimization mindset
