This Systems Engineer role focuses on the design, development, integration, and maintenance of complex defense systems that meet demanding specifications and performance requirements. You will translate customer and product requirements into complete system solutions, support rapid development efforts, and ensure compliance with defense industry standards in a fast-paced, collaborative environment., * Lead and support the design and development of defense systems to ensure they meet stringent specifications, performance requirements, and program objectives.
- Convert customer and product requirements into total system solutions that account for technical constraints, schedules, and cost targets.
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition to translate customer needs into hardware and software specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, working closely with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance, recommendations, and mentorship to engineering teams to drive innovation and advanced prototype concepts in automation, modeling and simulation, software architectures, and system integration.
- Conduct system integration and testing to verify and validate system functionality, performance, and security for defense applications.
- Plan, participate in, lead, and coordinate the preparation, execution, and closeout of internal and external customer reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and Stage Gate reviews.
- Identify and assess technical risks, schedule risks, and cost impacts associated with system development and implementation, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all systems engineering activities comply with applicable defense industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Develop and maintain system-level documentation, including block diagrams, interface control diagrams, and requirements specifications.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-discipline teams including Electrical, Mechanical, Software, GNC, Manufacturing, and Operations to achieve integrated system solutions., You will work in a mixed office, R&D/test, and small manufacturing environment that supports the full lifecycle of complex defense systems. The role involves close collaboration with engineering and operations teams in a setting that combines design, prototyping, integration, and testing activities. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven systems engineering experience within the defense industry, typically 12+ years.
- Strong background in systems engineering principles, methods, and lifecycle processes.
- Hands-on experience with design, prototyping, modeling, analysis, and simulation of complex systems.
- Demonstrated experience in rapid development environments.
- Expertise in requirements development, requirements management, and requirements configuration control.
- Ability to generate and interpret block diagrams and interface control diagrams, including electrical, logical, and software interfaces.
- Experience with system integration, test, verification, and validation activities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and collaborate across cross-discipline teams such as Electrical, Mechanical, Software, GNC, Manufacturing, and Operations.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Project, and related productivity or engineering tools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to verify U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to obtain necessary security clearances., * Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools such as SysML or equivalent.
- Familiarity with configuration management practices and tools.
- Experience working with GPS/PNT or similar advanced defense technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed trade studies and risk assessments.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to meeting technical, schedule, and cost objectives.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Niceville, FL. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.
