Job description

The Manager, Network & Telecom Services is responsible for the design, delivery, and 24/7 operation of the enterprise network and voice infrastructure across corporate offices, distribution centers, and retail locations. This role ensures the stability, scalability, resiliency, and performance of all network and telecommunications systems, including WAN, LAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, voice, and cloud connectivity. This leader oversees a blended delivery model consisting of internal engineers, contractors, and offshore managed service provider (MSP) teams. The position is accountable for driving operational excellence, service quality, and cost efficiency while supporting modernization initiatives and large-scale technology transformations. The role partners closely with Architecture, Information Security, Service Delivery, and Operations teams to deliver secure, high-performing connectivity aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of network and telecom engineers across internal, contract, and offshore MSP resources.
  • Set priorities, manage workload distribution, and establish clear deadlines and accountability.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and strong operational discipline.
  • Serve as an escalation point for critical incidents and communicate effectively with leadership (VP, SVP, CIO-level).

Network & Telecom Engineering and Operations

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise network infrastructure, including routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, and voice services.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability through proactive monitoring, analytics, and capacity planning.
  • Provide technical oversight across key technologies such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Aruba, Infoblox, and F5.
  • Drive modernization initiatives, including SD-WAN adoption and infrastructure transformation.

Project & Service Delivery

  • Lead network and telecom projects ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that support business growth and digital transformation.
  • Establish and track KPIs to measure service performance, delivery quality, and operational efficiency.

Vendor & Managed Services Management

  • Manage relationships with MSPs, carriers, and external vendors.
  • Oversee SLA performance, contract compliance, and service quality through structured governance and QBRs.
  • Lead RFP processes, contract negotiations, and vendor selection activities.
  • Drive continuous service improvement and cost optimization across all suppliers.

Governance, Compliance & Financial Management

  • Ensure adherence to ITIL-based processes for incident, problem, and change management.
  • Maintain audit readiness and ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and business cases, including ROI analysis for technology investments.
  • Monitor operational metrics such as availability, MTTR, SLA compliance, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required., * 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, operations, and service delivery.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams, including offshore and MSP resources.
  • Hands-on experience in network engineering (preferred), with experience transitioning into leadership roles.
  • Proven experience working with service providers on SLAs, RFPs, and vendor performance management.
  • Strong experience in large-scale enterprise environments, ideally within retail or CPG industries.

Technical Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of:
  • Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS)
  • SD-WAN technologies
  • Firewalls (Palo Alto preferred)
  • Load balancing (F5)
  • Wireless networks (Aruba)
  • Exposure to cloud networking (Azure, Google Cloud Platform) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of network operations, monitoring, and performance optimization., * CCNP or higher certification strongly preferred.
  • Palo Alto (PCNSE), Fortinet NSE, F5-CTS, or ITIL Foundation certifications are a plus.
  • Experience leading large-scale outsourcing or managed services transformations.

This is a Permanent position based out of Burlington, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
