Job description

Insight Global's role within this program is to work on a research team who is supporting a long-term effort to make person-to-person communication in Virtual Reality indistinguishable from real life. This team's core function is to collect user data, which in this case is scans of the persons face and body. We capture facial expressions, eye movement, voice, etc; to then build a virtual model of that person. From there, A.I. uses cameras embedded in the VR headset to predict their movements based off the data we collected. The result is a hyper realistic model of that person whose expressions (face, mouth, eyes, forehead wrinkles, etc.) change in real time even when they have a headset on.

The System Integrator will work closely with the User Studies team to understand ongoing issues with capture stages and correct these issues to keep the stages operational for external participants. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Providing onsite troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support for the capture systems during the capture process. o Maintain and address component bugs and issues o Analyze frequent failures and make suggestions for how to solve these issues o Create lasting solutions for frequent or recurring issues. o Assembly support for system upgrades.

  • Escalate any non-standard issues to the appropriate Client team using an internal issue reporting tool.

  • Helping to maintain system documentation

  • Collect data to verify component performance

  • Experience with hardware root cause analysis and related data collection
  • Experience with detailed technical documentation and use of a ticketing or tasking system such a Jira
  • Experience in a production based environment with an understanding of how to update task documentation
  • Network troubleshooting: understanding network protocols, how to set up IP addresses, ping different devices that aren't coming online
  • Scripting (Should be able to write basic automation tasks in bash or python)
  • Experience running cable, wires, or understanding of fiber connections
  • Strong communication skills
