As a GNC Engineer - Level 2 or 3 located in Chandler, AZ, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
In this position, you will contribute to the development and evaluation of guidance, navigation, and control systems for advanced aerospace applications, including aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, and launch vehicles. Your work will involve applying mathematical models, control theories, and algorithm development to achieve precision in navigation and control performance. You will also play a key role in analyzing system behavior, designing solutions, and integrating hardware and software components to ensure system reliability and mission success.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Your mission, should you choose to accept:
- Design, develop, implement, verify, and test high-quality software and simulation toolchains
- Work on a 6 degree of freedom (6DOF) simulation to design and test missile flight code
- Work with 6DoF simulation models to evaluate system performance
- Work with missile flight dynamics, autopilot and guidance design, and implementation into missile flight code
- Work with various trajectory optimization software and tools
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 2 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 0 years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
- Two (2) years of Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) related experience with a Bachelor's degree - OR - Zero (0) years of GNC experience with a Master's degree.
- Exposure to C++ development in a Linux environment
- Exposure to MATLAB and Python toolchains
Preferred Qualifications for Level 2:
- Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Control systems theory and flight dynamics competence
- Competence in creating and maintaining analysis tools in C++, MATLAB and Python
- Competence in C++ development in a Linux environment
- Competence in MATLAB and Python toolchains
- Existing active and in scope Secret Clearance upon application, * Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 7+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
- Five (5) years of Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) related experience with a Bachelor's degree - OR - three (3) years of GNC experience with a Master's degree.
- Competence in C++ development in a Linux environment
- Competence to MATLAB and Python toolchains, * Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Control systems theory and flight dynamics proficiency
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining analysis tools in C++, MATLAB and Python
- Proficiency in C++ development in a Linux environment

Benefits & conditions
Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
