Job description
We are looking for a Senior VDI Platform Engineer to improve our global, large-scale virtual desktop platform supporting users across multiple regions. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of a session-based desktop environment used in latency-sensitive workflows.
The role places strong emphasis on automation, operational repeatability, and data-driven troubleshooting. You will work on improving how the platform is operated over time, using scripting, metrics, and evidence-based analysis to resolve performance issues, reduce operational complexity, and eliminate recurring incidents.
This is a platform engineering role focused on virtual desktop infrastructure, not a device management or modern workplace position.
What you'll do
- Operate and improve a large-scale virtual desktop infrastructure platform used by global users
- Plan and execute platform upgrades and lifecycle changes across desktop images, agents, and infrastructure components
- Troubleshoot performance, stability, and user-experience issues using system metrics, session telemetry, and operational data
- Diagnose and resolve authentication and login-related issues involving Active Directory, group policies, certificates, and SSO integrations
- Design and implement automation and repeatable operational processes using PowerShell and API-driven tooling
- Use monitoring and operational data to drive capacity planning, tuning, and remediation decisions
- Analyse and address resource contention across compute, memory, storage, network, and GPU resources where applicable
- Work closely with infrastructure, networking, and security teams on cross-domain issues affecting the platform
- Investigate and remediate incidents related to login latency, session instability, profile behaviour, and desktop performance
- Continuously reduce manual operational effort through scripting, standardisation, and platform improvements
Requirements
- A senior engineer with 7+ years of experience operating virtual desktop or EUC infrastructure platforms in production environments
- Experienced troubleshooting session-based desktop environments, including login flows, authentication dependencies, and desktop performance issues
- Comfortable working across infrastructure layers including virtualization, storage, networking, identity services, and endpoint images
- Experienced in applying automation and infrastructure-as-code thinking to improve reliability and operational consistency
- Data-driven in how you troubleshoot and optimise systems, using metrics and evidence rather than assumptions
- Execution-focused, with a strong bias toward resolving root causes rather than recurring symptoms
- Calm and methodical under pressure, especially when diagnosing complex incidents affecting end users
- Clear communicator able to explain technical decisions using evidence, impact, and operational context, You'll join a culture of collaboration and excellence, where you'll be surrounded by curious thinkers and creative problem solvers. Motivated by a passion for continuous improvement, you'll thrive in a supportive, high-performing environment alongside talented colleagues, working collectively to tackle the toughest problems in the financial markets.
