Job description

  • Install, configure, and manage Microsoft SQL Server (2012 2022) and Oracle databases across on-premises and cloud environments
  • Design and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions including Always-On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, Oracle RAC, and Data Guard
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning and execution plan analysis
  • Perform database upgrades, migrations (on-prem to cloud), patching, and routine maintenance
  • Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance (including TDE and STIG guidelines)
  • Manage user roles, permissions, and access controls
  • Troubleshoot performance issues, deadlocks, and system bottlenecks
  • Work closely with DevOps, infrastructure, and application teams to support deployments and data operations
  • Develop automation scripts (Linux shell scripting) to streamline database operations
  • Maintain documentation and generate reports on system performance and usage

Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Engineer to support mission-critical systems in a fast-paced, enterprise environment. This role requires deep expertise in database administration, performance tuning, high availability, and cloud-based database solutions., * Strong experience with SQL Server and Oracle database administration in enterprise environments

  • Hands-on expertise with high availability solutions (Always-On, clustering, RAC, Data Guard)
  • Experience with Azure (IaaS/PaaS) and database migration to cloud environments
  • Working knowledge of AWS RDS and EC2-based databases
  • Experience with database security including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and STIG compliance
  • Proficiency in performance tuning and query optimization
  • Experience with Linux environments and shell scripting
  • Oracle and SQL certifications required
  • Ability to support onsite work in Washington, DC

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in 24x7 production environments
  • Familiarity with Azure Managed Instances and managed database services
  • Experience with SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
  • Prior experience supporting federal or government environments
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
