The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical depth, and an ability to drive disciplined engineering practices that meet stringent security, quality, and regulatory standards-including secure software development requirements and compliance with the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Responsibilities Leadership & People Management Lead, mentor, and develop a large engineering team (~25 developers) across .NET applications, embedded Linux systems, and platform components. Provide clear direction, establish expectations, and create an environment that promotes technical excellence, ownership, and collaboration. Conduct performance reviews, manage career growth plans, support professional development, and lead organizational scaling for future needs. Optimize team structure, resource allocation, and workstream alignment to ensure balanced workload and on-time delivery. Engineering Execution & Delivery Oversee design, implementation, test, and delivery of aerospace-grade, secure, high-reliability software. Ensure engineering discipline through coding standards, peer review processes, documentation rigor, and traceability across the development lifecycle. Collaborate with Program Management and Product teams to define priorities, estimate effort, and ensure alignment with technical and mission objectives. Guide decisions on architecture, platform evolution, refactoring, and long-term maintainability. Regulatory, Security, & Compliance Responsibilities Own compliance with secure software development practices, including threat modeling, static and dynamic security testing, secure coding standards, and vulnerability management. Drive engineering readiness and implementation of requirements under the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), including: Mandatory documentation and technical files Vulnerability handling processes Software bill of materials (SBOM) management Lifecycle security monitoring and update obligations Ensure adherence to internal and external aerospace/defense software standards (e.g., secure coding guidelines, risk and hazard analysis frameworks, configuration control). Partner with Cybersecurity, Quality, and Compliance teams to support audits, assessments, and accreditation processes. Technical Leadership & Architecture Provide architectural oversight for both .NET application ecosystems and embedded Linux firmware platforms. Drive integration strategies across hardware, firmware, and application layers. Evaluate and introduce new tools and technologies to strengthen development velocity, product security, and system reliability. Support implementation of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure DevOps ("DevSecOps") practices. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Systems Engineering, Program Management, and other functional partners to ensure cohesive program execution. Represent software engineering in executive reviews, customer discussions (when appropriate), and regulatory compliance activities.
Requirements
Communicate project status, technical risks, and mitigation plans to leadership with clarity and consistency. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of software engineering management experience, including leadership of large teams (15+ engineers). Proven experience delivering software for aerospace, defense, or other safety-critical, secure, or highly regulated domains. Strong technical background in: .NET / C# application development Embedded Linux firmware, drivers, board bring-up, or real-time systems Demonstrated knowledge of secure software development practices and lifecycle management. Experience with formal engineering processes, documentation, and traceability requirements typical of aerospace and defense programs. Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred Familiarity with defense contracting environments, accreditation processes, or classified program execution. Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and air-gapped environment, or similar secure DOD guidelines. Working knowledge of compliance frameworks tied to the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance and to meet ITAR requirements.
