Job description
We re looking for an experienced VMware Engineer to support a large-scale configuration remediation effort for a major U.S. financial institution. You ll focus on correcting CIS Baseline drift and advanced VM settings across a 20,000+ VM environment. This role is highly technical, automation driven, and requires comfort working during afterhours maintenance windows.

What You ll Do
- Remediate CIS Baseline and advanced VM configuration issues across thousands of VMs
- Execute updates, power cycles, and configuration changes during scheduled patching windows (primarily nights)
- Build automation and scripts (PowerCLI/PowerShell/etc.) to streamline remediation
- Support Secure Boot, UEFI, and certificate related VM updates
- Coordinate with UAT and Production teams to align work with maintenance processes
- Assist with improving observability, alerting, and VM data visibility
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter experience
- Strong scripting skills (PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python, etc.)
- Experience with large scale VM configuration changes
- Familiarity with CIS Benchmarks and security hardening
- Ability to work independently during night/after hours windows
- Must be U.S based (onshore) due to security requirements
Nice to Have
- Experience automating certificate renewals (including VCF cert management)
- Observability/monitoring improvements (Aria, VCF logs, Datadog)
- VM placement/anti affinity logic experience (e.g., SQL primary/secondary nodes)
