Job description
This role will serve as a Director in Technology, providing oversight and supporting staff. This role is critical to drive transparency, accountability and remediation discipline across Global Wealth Banking and Markets technology. This role oversees the technology department's regulatory and audit engagements through coordination, tracking, remediation and quality assurance.
Contribute to the overall success of Technology for Global Banking and Markets by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.
Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
What You'll Do
- Leads the Exam and Issue Management teams, assuming accountability for the execution of Technology Regulatory Exam Management, Readiness and Issue Management procedures end-to-end.
- Assists IT teams in adhering to policies, frameworks, standards and guidelines through active engagement, guidance and counseling.
- Monitor all regulatory and audit deliverables and commitments, timelines and due dates devising controls and checks to minimize operational risks.
- Builds trust with stakeholders by becoming a go-to partner for remediation decision making and regulatory responses authoring.
- Adheres to all applicable Enterprise Standards.
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
- Is the department's Subject Matter Expert (SME) advising on U.S. regulatory and audit engagements.
- Escalates risks as necessary.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Requirements
- Candidates should have comprehensive knowledge or experience (10+ years) in the following areas:
- Audit / Issue Management
- Regulatory Compliance (e.g., FFIEC Guidelines, NYS DFS, FRB NY, FINRA)
- Technology (e.g., IT Asset Management, Software Currency, Cybersecurity scanning)
- Excellent judgment and organizational skills
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and work simultaneously on various tasks, independently and to completion
- Attentive to detail
What You'll Bring
