Job description
The Senior Systems Engineer (Microsoft Infrastructure) is a subject matter expert across Microsoft technologies, responsible for architecting, maintaining, and supporting enterprise-grade systems and services. This role is remote-first but requires the ability to travel to local offices or datacenters for physical tasks and escalations. You will lead initiatives across O365, M365, Azure, Active Directory, Entra ID, PowerShell automation, and Windows Server environments-both physical and virtual., The Senior Systems Engineer will manage adjacent infrastructure such as license servers, proxies, and SMTP relays, and contribute to reporting and documentation efforts that support operational transparency and team scalability. They will architect, deploy, and maintain Microsoft-centric infrastructure including:
- Azure AD, Entra ID, Active Directory forests/domains
- O365/M365 tenant administration and licensing
- Windows Server (physical and virtual)
- PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting
They will manage virtualization platforms including Proxmox, VMware, and KVM, support hybrid identity and federation services (e.g., ADFS, SAML, OAuth), and maintain group policies, DNS/DHCP, and certificate services. The Senior Systems Engineer will also be responsible for the following:
- Assist with datacenter operations including racking, cabling, and hardware lifecycle
- Collaborate with IT, support, and engineering teams to align infrastructure with business needs
- Document systems, workflows, and automation for team-wide visibility
- Generate operational reports and dashboards for leadership and audit purposes
- Contribute to process improvement and workflow documentation across teams
- Participate in after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call rotations
- Administer and maintain supporting infrastructure:
- License servers (e.g., RLM, FlexLM)
- Proxy services (e.g., Squid, HAProxy)
- SMTP relays and mail routing
- PowerAutomate and PowerBI integration
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science, information technology, or equivalent. They must have hands-on experience with Microsoft enterprise technologies and have deep expertise in PowerShell scripting and automation. They must have proven experience managing Azure AD, Entra ID, and hybrid identity, and a strong understanding of Windows Server architecture and virtualization. Additional desired skills include:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Graph API
- Experience with virtualization platforms: Proxmox, VMware, KVM
- Experience with Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Compliance Center (formerly Purview)
- Excellent communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills
- Reliable transportation and ability to lift up to 20 pounds for datacenter tasks
- Familiarity with PowerAutomate, PowerBI is a plus
- Working knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS) and macOS systems is a plus
- Prior experience in post-production or media environments is a plus
