Job description

The Renewables Compliance Analyst is part of the Commercial Fuels Value Chain West - Renewable and Low Carbon Fuels (R&LC) organization, within the Carbon and Renewable Regulatory Assurance (CRRA) group. CRRA supports the evaluation of current and emerging renewable regulatory requirements and manages renewable fuel and feedstock compliance obligations.

This position is on the CRRA Feedstocks team and is responsible for ensuring robust traceability of compliant renewable feedstocks across multiple renewable regulatory programs. The role will focus on quality assurance, system governance, and analytical evaluation of feedstock traceability data, with an emphasis on contextualizing raw data into actionable insights for risk mitigation, compliance assurance, and value optimization.

This feedstock traceability focused Renewables Compliance Analyst will execute, analyze, and improve feedstock tracking processes within the Renewable Feedstock Tracker (RFT) and assess opportunities for strategic system enhancement or third - party traceability solutions. This role requires close collaboration with CRRA processors and analysts, feedstock schedulers, traders, IT partners, and external suppliers., * Analyze and contextualize data to identify compliance risks, trends, and optimization opportunities.

  • Lead evaluation and prioritization in house system enhancements and third-party solutions to meet evolving regulatory expectations.
  • Expands knowledge of the renewable programs, understands rulemaking processes, and seeks insight from agency communications and rulemaking. Utilizes consultants to understand nuanced areas of the regulations.
  • Collects, shares, and provides recommendations based on industry intelligence to benefit decision making for Commercial department stakeholders, and to provide recommendations to improve process and procedures.
  • Participates in Commercial and CRRA initiatives such as OEMS process, trainings, group meetings, staff meetings, and townhalls.
  • Participates in industry associations, conferences, and events. Reports out the findings from the conference and how MPC could be impacted.
  • Follows and provides recommended changes to defined processes and procedures to ensure company compliance. Identifies locations and gathers necessary data to compile reports. Performs quality assurance on data and seeks resolution on discrepancies.
  • Recommends and assists with the development and/or update of written policies and procedures as it relates to regulatory programs. Provides recommendations to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Understands MPC's current renewable strategy at a high level and applies understanding in developing recommendations for change.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the individual should be self - driven, analytically minded, and innovative, with strong interpersonal skills and a continuous improvement mindset., * Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or other related discipline required.

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in Renewables or Oil & Gas industry preferably in operations or compliance required.
  • Experience with data analytics and transforming raw data into actionable insights is preferred.
  • Familiarity with renewable fuel programs, feedstock traceability, or regulatory compliance systems is a plus.
