As a Software Engineer III - Backend Developer in the Customer Trust Gateway organization, you will be pivotal in developing and optimizing backend systems that underpin our customer trust initiatives. You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust APIs, managing databases, and ensuring the seamless integration of various microservices. Your work will directly impact on how we handle customer data and maintain security and compliance across our platforms. In this role, you will apply your backend development skills to create efficient, scalable solutions that meet both business needs and technical standards. You will collaborate closely with front-end developers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software that aligns with Walmart's strategic goals. About the Customer Trust and Digital Citizenship: Our organization, i.e. Customer Trust and Digital Citizenship Tech, focuses on managing and delivering world-class products, driving policy compliance, creating partnerships, and developing pipelines and self-service tools. Responsible for Global Privacy Technology Product implementation(s) so that we can earn customers and associate trust. What You Will Do:
- Build and maintain scalable APIs and microservices to support customer trust and privacy initiatives.
- Design, implement, and optimize databases, working with both SQL and NoSQL technologies.
- Utilize Docker and Kubernetes to deploy, manage, and scale backend applications.
- Write and execute unit tests to ensure the reliability and quality of code.
- Work closely with frontend developers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Use object-oriented programming principles to develop clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- At least 3-5 years of experience in software engineering
Preferred qualification:
- Master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a lead role within backend development, including a strong ability to mentor engineers and guide teams toward achieving technical and project goals.
- Deep knowledge of backend technologies, including Java Spring boot, Kubernetes, AWS, and extensive experience in database design and management with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Proficient in designing and implementing scalable and resilient system architectures, with hands-on experience in microservices.
- Expertise in using Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration to enhance the scalability and reliability of backend services.
- Solid experience in unit testing and applying object-oriented programming principles to develop maintainable and robust backend solutions.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies such as React, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript, as well as an understanding of micro-frontend architecture is a plus., Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
