Job description

Long-term project for an Senior Electronic Systems Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of airborne electronic hardware for Hydrogen Fuel Cell Management Systems on a landmark clean-aviation programme.

This is a hands-on, system-level role where you'll define architecture, drive integration, and lead verification and qualification of high-reliability airborne hardware - shaping technology that will power the future of zero-emission flight.

You'll work with a world-class engineering team on a long-term programme, while retaining the flexibility and autonomy of an outside-IR35 contract.

What you'll do:

  • Own the architecture, integration, verification, and qualification of airborne electronic hardware
  • Define system and derived requirements to meet safety and regulatory objectives
  • Architect and integrate mixed-signal monitoring and data-acquisition electronics
  • Lead hardware development across in-house and external suppliers, ensuring traceability, configuration control, and design compliance
  • Collaborate closely with Fuel Cell, Mechanical, and Software teams to support system integration
  • Drive DO-254 development assurance activities from concept through qualification
  • Produce and review design documentation, lead reviews, resolve actions, and support certification
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and processes

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in airborne electronic hardware development
  • Strong background in mixed-signal electronics, monitoring circuits, and data-acquisition systems
  • Proven experience integrating electronics with microcontrollers and DSPs
  • Solid understanding of electrical safety, EMC, and environmental qualification
  • Experience using SPICE-based tools (LTSpice, Simetrix, or similar)
  • Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

Desirable:

Fuel Cell or Battery Management Systems, DOA environments, CS-23/25 certification exposure, DO-160 / MIL-STD-810, RS485 / CAN / Ethernet.
