Job description
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, reliability and system safety analysis of rocket motor propulsion systems. Analyses are performed at the sub-system product level to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. A Systems Engineer in this business area is responsible for working with a broad customer base to identify unique requirements, flow the requirements into design documentation, and work with a diverse design team to support the build and test of propulsion systems.
Expected duties include:
- Presenting to customers on the capabilities of current products, performance analyses, design information, and requirements verification methods.
- Generating, reviewing, and managing multiple requirements sets that cover all aspects of both performance and nonperformance including mechanical interfaces, electrical interfaces, data requirements, environmental requirements, reliability, and systems safety.
- Awareness and responsiveness to contract milestones and deliverables.
- Working with a team of subsystem engineers and subject matter experts to ensure the designs are sufficient to meet the system requirements.
- Working with integration and test engineers to ensure all requirements are verified through inspection, analysis, demonstration, or test often by providing test and data reduction inputs.
- Collaborate on providing direction to ensure production tests and troubleshooting tests are executed correctly and resulting data conforms to requirements.
- Develop simulation models for propulsion systems.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) related discipline with 2 years of relevant experience; Master's degree in STEM related discipline with 0 years of relevant experience

Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate to team members, customers, and suppliers

Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite., * Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) related discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's degree in STEM related discipline with 3 years of relevant experience; or a PhD

Benefits & conditions
Position will support the systems engineering needs of programs at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) in Rocket Center, WV. This position will grow the requirements management functions of development work done at ABL. Additionally, the position will provide resources to do reliability and system safety functions that are currently being outsourced.
Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
